Here, although White has a large mateήal advantage, he has no way of making any progress as Black has a classic fortress position. The reason for this is that Black's pawn structure is at its Όptimum' and White's has lost its flexibility by the moves f4 and h4. Somewhere in the above game, White has made a concession in his pawn structure and at this late stage, is paying for it dearly.
