Four player chess?

For those who haven't noticed, here's what you are really looking at

..point being the 4pc supports a boatload of variants already, but was lacking "2 player friendliness".
All 4player games will eventually move over here to variants and the old 4player chess server will retire.

of course!  the "normal chess" here is really just another custom 4pc position, that's what the whole thread is about really. the opening picture?

and of course here we'll have fourplayer fogofwar  etc

why? variants = 4pc + 6 months of further development. Basically the 4pc app is getting a huge upgrade thanks to Deepmind and Kramnik really.

erm, you haven't even seen the new "server" yet? (you can't yet.., only me for now)

the Server btw, is literally the same as 4pc Server (it doesn't really care if games are 2pc or 4pc..) , and the Client (what's in your browser) is 4pc + added "2player friendliness".

You can (soon) play (create!) whatever variant floats your goat

Can't promise that, you might have to make them again, but we will copy the 4pc game archive. if you can find your games (write down your game# is easiest), you can add them to your templates with a click.

when do we get to play the 4pc variants?

There was a big hurry to release 2-player variants now, and some of features aren't finished yet even got broken in the hurry. I can't say when but hope to be offering more variants soon.
