French anyone?

The french is one of my favorites. Playing ...f6 so early isn't good though as it weakens the kingside. White may well replace that pawn with a knight on e5 while black's king has to get to safety, and Qh5+ could come. But once you're more developed, ...f6 should rip the center apart. Still it shows the power of central pawn play in the french.
Your opponent erred in exchanging light-squared Bishops so early. Good job catching that.
By the way, what school do you attend? I'm in the northern suburbs and I have an IHSA rating as well (those ratings are pretty funny; I'm somewhere around 1600 myself, but I doubt that's accurate).

lol. St patrick High school. Anyway ya, i was so suprised that he traded that bishop early. as for the F6 pawn i did that to just have it there. then when he took it i knew I had the game.

Yeah, Bb5+ seems to be such a natural move for amateurs, ( I see Bb5+ or just Bb5 when a knight is on c6 alot) yet it doesn't really make sense. It only helps black exchange bad bishops.

The coach from the other team (who is like a 2200) scolded my opponentt for trading that bishop. I was always two moves ahead in development so I really was happy he traded. That bishop i had was crap.
Yeah, that game probably helped your rating adjust to where it should be at. Which conference are you in? Mine's stacked, I think it's officially called the Northern Suburbs Division or something. We have to play Stevenson (who was 2nd. at state last year, which they considered a poor finish to the season), Carmel Catholic Highschool (not Mount Carmel, but just as tough- Frankie Swindell, their Board 1, is a Candidate Master), and Highland Park (they're pretty decent).

Wow. Where do you go. Me and Hiro6969 go to St pats. We play iggys and Mount Carmel. Those are the only compatition with have. Me and Hiro are St pats 3rd and 2nd board and were pretty good. We went to the evenston tourney and we ended up playing stevenston the first round and got wrecked. The only one that put up a decent match was me. Mine also lasted the longest. Hiro got wrecked in ten minutes and our first board went down in 20 minutes. but god. We only have to deal with St Ignatious and Mount Carmel. Im surprised people dont even accuse us of stacking cause of how Me and our 4th board play. oh and St Joesph is a joke. I crushed there thrid board in 5 mins or 10 moves. Here if you wanna see it.
You were at Evanston?! This was the only year we didn't go! Yeah Stevenston's boards 1-7 all rotate for first board. I go to Mundelein.
Damn. Your game was pretty short. Nice job being on 3rd. board. It's such a weird board, along with boards 2 and and 4 to a lesser degree, because you never have any idea what to expect when it comes to the ability of your opponent.

Yeah. We went 2 and 2. I wrecked the thrid boards from Maine West and Elk grove Horribly. When I played stevenston though, it was a super close match. It could have went either way for the both of us and we knew it. After the match the coach from stevenston had took his team down to our table and he wanted them to go over our games with eachother. Rosen and our 1st board just played blitz and same with our Hiro did the same thing with their 2nd board. Me and O' conner knew our mistakes. It really could have went either way. Then it just got crazy. Also, Yeah I know. I was a Ninth board last year. And now all of the sudden im playing 3rd and basically wrecking people. The funny thing with Maine West was that there 4th board (who was the thrid boards sister) was much much better then her sister. We all thought that she should have been thrid. Also against Elk Grove, I won the kids queen in 6 moves and from there I just WRECKED him. I was hoping for a challange cause it looked like a decent team. Anyway, Chicago public schools Chess program got cut so we may not see whitney or lane or kelly at state because now they need do theyre own stuff in order to qualify. So yeah, I was looking at the Mundelien team roster and I saw that your 12 ALT, Samantha is a 1550, Why isnt she high up the chain. The worst part about Joes team was there coach wants out of that school. He hates it there and Im just like damn. That coach couldnt have any pride in his school what so ever. Anyway I cant wait for state. Thats when shit is going to get real.
Wow, that's really sad about Lane Tech. They had a brilliant team. More than a few times, we'd be at a tournament and their board 1 or 2 would have a crowd of spectators.
Stevenson's coaches are nice guys, also. Mr. Oliver (one of their coaches) is actually good friends with my parents. The reason Stevenson's board arrangements may have been odd was probably because boards 1-7 rotate between, well, boards 1-7. Good job putting up a fight against her.
There's only one Samantha, and I never knew she had gone to any tournaments. She almost never shows up to club either. In all honesty, I've known her for 7 years and I would have to say that her behavior does not fit that of a mentally sound person, so I'm guessing her ability to play is affected by her mood. Also, we put down names on that roster based on sheer attendance of the club.
We're off to play Stevenson this Friday, so wish me luck. I could be playing against the same person you played!

I would play on a high school chess team, as I would probably be by far the best player lol but there would be no competition and plus being known as high school chess champion isn't exactly a good thing, so I just go to tournaments.

lol. No I played against The tall O'Conner. So yeah, Rosen is going to be first board and we all know it. Rosen is probably the best. He could probably take out the whole team of IMSA or nequa valley or even Urbana. He is like 2500, Like if he was on Chess.com he would be ont the very high side of the site. Yeah though, Lane Tech may not show up at state because of the Chess program getting cut in so many public schools. They have 4 diffrent teams though so thats alot to manage for state. They would have to pay for everything cause the chess team doesnt have a budget, so it really sucks for them. Yeah tomarrow we play Carmel and that apparently is going to be a handful. Are you going to Glenbard or The Chicago scholastic bowl. If not be sure to stop by the st pats table down state. Were going to be ranked high first round and we know it >.<. Were going to take 2nd in our confrence cause Iggys beat us. The worst part is that we loast alot of our best player's last year. If one senior didnt join the team also, I wouldve played eight last year so anyway this is my first year on the top 8 led alone being in the top three. Its so surreal to think about. Anyway, after Mount Carmel for us, it'll be smooth sailing. Well be playing all the teams that are on the bottom end of the standing. So were going to wreck them. We have Marist Gordon tech and Hales Franciscan, They are all bad teams. Sorry though. I am blunt when I say that. Marist cant even come up with 8 boards half the time. So theyll be super easy for us. Also if you play iggys at all down state WRECK THEM. Please just Whip there asses. No one wants them to win because their coach is an complete ASSHOLE. And if you lose, cut off Bradley ponytail. xD. Anyway, Yea her rating must be high cause shes only played one or two games im guessing. Also to Elubas, There is some compition in all the chess confrences in the US. You just got to find it. Also my little tangent into stevenstons team. I could probably wreck there 4 through eighth boards. I cannot take on there 2nd and 1st board though, I can put up a very decent fight but it wouldnt last long. lol.

Oh an Update. I won my match to day against MC but our team lost as a whole again. I will have the game up. My coach has it
I just played O'Connor at Stevenson. We weren't supposed to actually play Stevenson, though, so I had just come out of a long, complicated draw with the board two of Lake Forest (a very friendly team with strong boards, though we won the match down an eighth board) and I was mentally drained when all of a sudden the coach came up to me and told me to set the clocks for game 30 because we were about to play Stevenson for our third match. We were only expecting to play two games, so this was a bit of a shock. Needless to say, I was mentally drained and unprepared, so I was soundly beat. O'Conner used a Scotch Variation I was not familiar with, more or less because I have neglected to study anything other than the main line of the Scotch, and I lasted 30 moves. It was frustrating because I recognized him as the same person who had made short work of of me last year when I went to Stevenson, except we were each on board 5.
As for the game I drew, I had solved, for the most part, my difficulty devising a long-term strategy, but I lost sight of it when my opponent and I decided to pause the game to see the finish of the game Stevenson's Board 1 and Glenbrook South's Board 1 (the FIDé master that had recently shut me down in 16 moves with the Nimzovich Variation of the Petroff Defense). It didn't help that after that, our board 1 purposefully went out of his way to annoy me by muttering obscenities. He usually does that when he's losing to provoke a reaction out of me, but I don't see the purpose in doing that when we're not playing against each other (it went both ways, though; after I told him to shut up, he started laughing and ended up blundering away a knight). Eventually I settled in again to my old form, and I was lucky enough to be playing with 10 min. left while my opponent had 30 sec. (he embarked on the Ruy Exchange, not expecting me to know the opening as well as I did). Though we each could have played better, myself in the last 16 moves and he in the first 17 or so, it was more or less the best game I had played on board two.

Wow. Today we went to a Chicago tournament. It was 19 teams from all around chicago. I was playign board two today cause our first board got suspended. So we were fucked. Anyway, I end up wrecking the 2 board from Gordon Tech. I was up 2 knights on her. Then I played Gor from licoln Park and missed a draw. And then Played the 2nd board from MC and almost beat him. I went up a rook early but then I fucked up. Anyway Our 2nd board had played 1st and he got a Draw against Auger, a Draw against MC and a Draw against Gordon Tech, We didnt stay for the fourth round cause our caoch needed to get the hell out of there before 4. So anyway, i noticed that 2 and 3 dont have that much of a diffrence. I was expecting alot of good players. I was shocked. The fucked up thing is that like ive mentioned before, Im coming from a 9th board. So really Im the strongest third board in My confrence. I have 3 loses but its only because I was sick two of the weeks and I actually played when I shouldnt have played at all. The other one was a stupid Lose. Anyway I beasted all of the other 3rd boards especially from the higher rated teams. So its quite shocking. DOnt you think? Anyway wow, You should have asked O'conner about my game. We were really going at it for abit. It was a fun game that was for sure.
I didn't realize it was O'Connor 'til I got home and saw the name. Board 2 is weird because it's difficult to gauge the level of the competition.
Ps. try to keep the language a bit less abrasive.

Sorry, My bad. I like to swear in a conversation/debate. lol. Anyway, yeah O'conner is a decent player. Though why were you playing two. Arent you usually 1st board. also. I was looking at the coach website and noticed that Rosen got invited to this big tournament that is going down. They invited the top 10 players in Illionois. Its pretty screwed up to me. Auger is going as well.
