I think it'd be nice for a writing competition. maybe short stories... then again, I'm more of a story writer, so of course I'd think like that...
Fun Ideas For The Group Anyone!?
Who'd be the judge? A particular person or would we all vote?
What about doing a "thread-writting" competiton BESIDES the stories \ poems competition?

Sounds good Tiago -
I think it would be best maybe if the group votes via private message to me.
The other option is that the admins decide but I dont think Rael or I would have the time to root through all the great works! Let alone the time to battle over a winner

I love the idea of short story and poetry competitons. I think Rael should be the judge because he came up with the group.

Heh.From what I can see, our friend Pawnsolo has had a very inspired night with the group. He's clearly perused a good number of threads, soaked a lot in, and just look at what he begins to pour out - in a sense it no longer even refers to the thread directly but bursts at the seams with poetic energy.
I'm happy for you, Pawnsolo. Right now you're in touch with her, our communal muse, slightly enraptured, your words just that elegantly inebriated, distracted, almost... private.
Copy and paste what you wrote above. In truth - I don't think it is appropriate for this thread exactly, I think you were inside something, and what came out is even better an in it's distinct context.
Nevertheless...

Oh, and even as I've seen myself, in the past, be all combative and argumentative about art, I don't know what it is in this instance... but I feel very elementally affectionate for everyone in this group.
In the way that we are all artists, we instinctually offer our highest selves, our sweetest observations and our heart's excitements... forgive me if I'm coming across sacchrine at this instant, let me assure you this is genuine.
I'm excited for everyone's exploration. This... experiment into text we're all undertaking. I see you all shining, giving off that weird aura that says you've gone somewhere and come back and have something sublime to share.
We're all at different stages along the way. Tasting shades of intensities. Testing theories and potent energies.
Let me say that I celebrate all of your journies. My friends, we trace metaphysical pathways with our inquiries, but no matter what, let us recognise the other artists right beside us, going through the same phases and performances demanded by the every-day.
I hope this little hideaway group on our favorite site is a little literary escape for all of you, to find yourself among those others of us who also find ourselves swept up in the intoxicating drink of verse.

hmmm i think this is the first time i have even submitted a comment but id like to say that wotever is decided (personally i am more for poetry) id like to suggest that we all be judges coz one person may like a poem (or short story) whereas another may not so it seems to make sense to get everyone invoved that way nobody is left with the job of judging and everyones work gets a fair hearing (or reading rather lol)

sorry i stand corrected i posted my poem wen i first joined the group ... more poems on the way .....

i think we should all post 1 poem each (makes the workload easier also everyone has a fairer chance of winning) then the elected judges (who again i think we all should be!!) all read them and make our judgements on it .... just my opinion

Good writers are those who keep the language efficient. That is to say, keep it accurate, keep it clear. - Ezra Pound - poet/critic
To read a poem is to hear it with our eyes; to hear it is to see it with our ears. - Ocatavio Paz - poet/critic/philosopher
I think fish is nice, but then I think that rain is wet so who am I to Judge - Douglas Adams - writer
If we are to have such discipline we must have standards, and to get our standards under existing conditions we must have criticism. - Irving Babbitt -critic
Don't pay any attention to what they write about you. Just measure it in inches. Andy Warhol - artist
You do not merely want to be considered just the best of the best. You want to be considered the only ones who do what you do. - Jerry Garcia - musican

I think this might be a good place to resurrect the 3 word story, that has played out a couple of times in the forums. If everyone took it seriously, we could actually end up with something good, unlike what has played out on the forums

I thought the idea was fun, not the puritanical search for perfection!
Obviously my idea of fun is somewhat different to yours, oh Great One, I bend my knee and doff my cap in deference.
Yours most humbly,
Evil H

"Sorry about the hack comment Evil_Homer, I was drinking Bud and American beer can go to your head."
That was a laugh out loud moment!
Your mothers ancestors will be rolling in their graves that you have strayed so far from the true path of Guiness! Now, that stuff REALLY goes to your head.

Add to this Evil_Homers idea of three line story, but instead of a story, we use it to vote\judge\critisicism. but how would we prevent the thread from becoming entangled. Sorry about the hack comment Evil_Homer, I was drinking Bud and American beer can go to your head. What you are suggesting would work well outside this, the idea(?) thread and on its own. But combine it with short story or poem gallery and it could become Chaos, there would be Anarchy, Fire and smoke and...

Tourney Yes.
Would be a good chance to mingle with people and and share writing interests.
I think a poetry comp first then -
To see how it goes.
1 poem per person. All members may vote once (Not for themselves).
Im thinking a theme should be set to keep the entries linked and not just random pieces of works.
Oh and sorry I havent worked on this sooner I have been away.

Hey Everyone
I think the group needs some serious fun injected into it!
No that our numbers are up I think its time we loooked into this
Any ideas out there!?
I think friendly poetry competitions with a different theme every 2 weeks might be an idea!
Or short story competitions!
And all the other kind of writing competitions
Looking forward to reading some major enthusiasm
