Game against Michael

I think it would be fun to discuss our ongoing match, the one some members of this group are playing against Michael... On our last move, which you have seen, the Be7, Michael and I had a little disagreement...but I submitted to his choice, of course.

Michael suggested I start a thread about the variant I thought was good so we could all discuss it. So there it is, under.

If you think it would be interesting to discuss the rest of the game (not the secret plans of course), the moves not made, the overall situation, evaluations of our positions, mistakes, etc, feel free to post. If you know how to post diagrams, do it because they are simpler and more fun to read : the little board on the left of the reply box will take you step by step.

So this was the move 4. as we could have played and didn't (you can use the diagram to pursue the moves):

c3 would have been fun, but we (I) was hoping for a Scotch game. c5? was crazy but Be7 must be suicidal... after Nf6 though I think I would have played d5 or Bg5. But against 5...d5 I would probably have played exd5 and the position looks dangerous for Black. White has an open file to the king and many attacking chances..

Be7 = A terrible blunder? A secret plan ? ;) ...............

Marcus-101

I certainly hope it is, cause the game isn't looking too good for you atm :)

The best move actually againt the d5 fork we could have played is : 5. Qe1!

In the moves you added to the diagram, I feel that in the end, we had a much better position... Hm?

Marcus-101

depends who you mean by 'we'

Marcus-101

I think white has a better position at the end of my diagram because white was going to be up in material and had a possible attack on Blacks king

We are the blacks. With black Q on f8, we look like we're OK

Marcus-101

soz I got confused because you said we could have played is : 5.Qe1, which if you are Black, you can't. And with the Queen on f8 you are definately losing the exchange, or perhaps a whole rook after
