I am pretty certain that it used to work correctly and advance past page 100. It still can be done with a workaround, where you specify the end date in the lower portion of the box with selection controls.
game archives/100 page limit...

Unlimited pagination presents many problems. I'd love to hear more about how/why this is used so we can build tools to help you find what you need!

I agree that from a practical point of view, not very many people want to go back that far in archives very often.
However, you have many users with many more games than that. Some users have as many as 250,000 games. ( https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/peacemyfriend-250-000-bullet-games-is-he-human )
With 50 games per page, a 100 page limit cuts off the maximum archive history at 5,000 games.

Right. But paginating through 250,000 games doesn't make sense. We should build smarter search tools for people to find what they are looking for. So... what would those be!?
Way back when v3 was a new thing, ISTR someone saying that the 100 page limit in v3 wouldn't exist. Whilst looking at a player's archive, i see the page numbers count up past 100, but their content is merely a repetition of previous pages, rather than showing what is beyond those 100 pages.
I dunno if the 100 page limit was supposed to be lifted, being so long ago i cannot remember who it was that made the claim, but just in case it was supposed to be lifted, i'll mention here.
Here are the screen shots, yoy can see the page numbers advancing each time, but their content remains the same...
