Game of the Week #3

I promised to post an example of the Dutch Defense after it came up last week.

It should be noted that the Dutch Defense is by no means the most popular response to 1. d4.  Chessgames.com lists 1. ... f5 (the Dutch Defense) as only the 4th most popular response to 1. d4.  The most popular response is Nf6, with 96,118 games in that database.  By way of comparison, the Dutch Defense has only 4,249 games listed.

The example  posted below is the called the Classical Variation to the Dutch Defense.  Classical is as good a place as any to start.  Eric Schiller's book "Standard Chess Openings" states that the modern Stonewall Dutch is more popular at the higher levels of chess.  Perhaps a discussion of that opening in the future is warranted if anyone wants it.
