We had a tactical sequence in the opening that I handled very poorly allowing you to win two pieces for two pawns. The passed pawn let me win one of the pieces back, and then I traded down to an endgame where I thought the extra knight might not be enough for you to win, and so it proved. An engine would have won it, but we're not engines.
the #1 Seed of the saturday event failed against me
he's only 50 points higher than you, but you still played really well, and I would not have found 26. Rxd6 in a blitz game (i might find it in rapid or classical)
Here's the best game I have played in a while. It is from round 9 of today's Untitled Tuesday event:
It turns out that my Bxh2 is probably not best. It’s a novelty, but strong players generally play Qc7 and get a fairly good game. The problem with Bxh2 was if White didn’t take.
I posted this on Facebook. My friends rated around 2100-2300 loved it! A couple said they would have played Bxh2 instantly. I burned nearly half a minute on it, and more time when Black played Bxh7!
But my IM and GM friends weren’t impressed. Cyrus Lakdawala and a couple others said they preferred Qc7! To keep all of the advantages of the position without burning bridges.
I love analyzing with strong players!
