Chessable -> basic endgames by theory hack

use chessable for strategies etc, lichess for puzzles

Probably don’t focus on openings too much, more on middlegames and especially endgames, because players of a lower level make a TON of mistakes in endgames.

It’s not just openings, there are strategy posts, tactics, and many other things in a way that makes you remember it

what is chessable

i steer clear from it because all i hear about are those opening courses that gms are always pumping up

I stay away from chessable because they're like lichess studies, most anyone can make a course. And it also makes you remember the moves by constantly repeating them, or at least that's what I heard from my 1700 uscf friend who does use chessable. For me, I would rather have a book and board. My opinion of the site was lowered about two days ago when I saw a course called "The caro kann for club players" by GLSmith (or something around that name). He said that "nobody understands a move completely except alphazero and stockfish, so I just follow the engine top line every time while following lichess non-master database (1000-2000 rating range).

In the two knights caro, he says that "this is a recent move played often at top level, but for club players it's basically a puzzle where black to move and find a large advantage". Then he rattles off the mainline and gives white a bad move at some point, because at the end the position is -2.

And half of his stuff end in -2 evaluations. This means he doesn't consider critical responses to his moves. Somehow his course is a five star course.

Openings aren't really important until 1500

Gosh I need to get better at openings

Avatar of sndeww

people always say "openings aren't really important until X", where X is a number usually close to their own rating. Which is bs.

Hey you don't even play theory just your own bs

You can do this at any rating

The only difference is you study your bs much more than I do
