I like "Medium" and "Ghost whisperer" and I don't have any reason to believe in ghosts. As I believe our consciousness is tightly bound to the operations of our electrochemical brains, I find it implausible that it could persist without it. Having said that, consciousness is a very big mystery indeed, which science cannot adequately address.
Ghosts,EVP & stuff like that...

I think that the fact that the Discovery Channel airs that kind of crap just means that they are sell-outs, and certainly doesn't say anything about the validity of such claims. I don't think it has anything to do with shortage of programs, but everything to do with shortage of money, and I completely disagree with it because it undermines the credibility of science as a whole.
Even worse is the show Ghost Lab; these two guys bring a bunch of expensive sensitive microphones and high-speed cameras to supposedly haunted houses and record "events" and put it forth as scientific evidence of paranormal activity. It's really sad that Discovery promotes this shit. The two guys that do this are total boxes of rocks, and don't know anything about science (how about quantifying the uncertainty of your signal, nimrods, but of course they couldn't do that because they don't even know what that means.) I would love to meet theses guys and ask them to give me an estimate of their signal to noise ratio (because I would bet my house that the amplitude of their signal is an order of magnitude below background.) If these idiots actually submitted their "findings" to a peer-reviewed journal, they would be torn apart. At least on A Haunting, there really is no question that there is no science involved (with the exception that it is aired on Discovery), but the fact that they try to convince people that Ghost Lab has some scientific merit really pisses me off!

I think that all their programs about cars and stupid junk like that is even worse! Why does discovery channel promote that sort of low-brow stuff? With the ghost programs you can at least watch it as a sort of scary movie, though not very scary at all. However I will agree that they should not be allowed to pass their "results" of as hard evidence. Every time they say that an increase in EMF is a sign of ghostly activity I get frustrated because some may think that because these guys have their own show and seem all scientific-like they must be speaking the truth. They could at least say that some people, especially ghost hunters, think that there is a connection between EMF and ghosts, but that this is in no way a proven fact.

Well those ones where people tell stories about their haunted houses, where they first tried to explain what happened but then gave up, could really every single one of them be lying? And the evidence on tv. It's edited, but although it's perhaps possible for voices to be faked, in some cases it would seem extremely difficult to. Weird sounds can happen naturally, but I don't know about solid knocking noises.
What do you think about ghosts and anything related to "them"? I don't really believe in this stuff but stories about them are everywhere, even on Discovery Channel (A Haunting), I'm watching the series for two years and I'm thinking that if something appears on Discovery it means that it has to be real or they were just in shortage of programs?Any oppinions,explanations,etc...?
