03-17-12 / Is A Christian Under The Law?

Galatians 5:4 / Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

"WORK YOUR FAITH" by J. Moss

Lyrics to "WORK YOUR FAITH"

http://www.lyricsmania.com/work_your_faith_lyrics_j_moss.html

Is it faith or is it works?

This debate has went on in the church world for so long, and for many, it is still an undecided feature.  However, much of the confusion around this debate stems over the word "works".  Those in favor of works will reference scriptures such as James 2:20 - "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"  They will erect a wall of pride around their box of works, proudly beating at the chest that they have it figured out.

Then there are those who stand on the faith side, referencing scriptures such as Romans 4:4-5 / 4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  To them, this is as obvious as can be that it cannot be through works, but through faith.

Who is right?  Well - BOTH OF THEM!  They are both on the same page (to a degree) and do not realize it!

But, you say, how can this be?  How can I be saved both by faith AND by works?  First, as I mentioned earlier, we need to take a look at the word "works" and see how it causes confusion in these discussions.

What type of works was James talking about in James 2?  Let's take a look at James 2:15-16 /  15If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

16And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?  These type of works are basic works you can do to help others in a time of need.  Therefore, according to James, if I want to show that my faith is alive, I need to be doing these types of works!  I need to be feeding the hungry, clothing the sick, and providing for those in need (to the best of my ability).

So, what about the reference to faith only in Romans 4?  If you really begin to dig into this chapter, it speaks about faith, but it also speaks about works - IN THE OLD TESTAMENT LAW.  The works that are not necessary for fulfilling righteousness are being wrapped up in the Old Testament law!

Let's take a quick look at Galatians 3, which deals with these types of "works" in greater detail.  Just take a look at Galatians 3:2 - "This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?"  Here, Paul is speaking of the "works of the law" - he is talking about a Christian going back into the Old Testament ways.

Is a Christian obliged to live under the Old Testament law?  No - Christ fulfilled this law with His death on the cross.  He testifies to this in Matthew 5:17-18 / 17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets.  He took all the ordinances and statutes and curses upon Himself that were written in the law, because it was impossible for any of us to fulfill that law.  We are all born into sin - there is not one of us that is able to fulfill that law.  However, Jesus was born without sin, and He overcame the law in our place.

This means that through our faith in Christ, we obtain His righteousness in our lives.  We now are righteous in the eyes of God, through FAITH IN CHRIST!  Does this mean we do not have to do works?  NO!  We still have to do works - just not the works of the Old Testament Law!

What types of rules, or works, do we need to fulfill?  Jesus summed it up in Matthew 22:37-40 /  37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38This is the first and great commandment.

39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.  Here, he stated that if we operate according to these two commandments, we will have done the works - they will become a part of our lives.

He even goes farther in Matthew 25:34-40 / 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Are these works?  Most certainly!  But they are not bound to the Old Testament law!  Helping one another should not have to be something that someone does just because the law says so - it should be something we strive to do as Christians.  How can we say we care for one another if we don't spend time seeking after one another's well being?

So, in short - both sides of the fence technically have it right, yet they don't realize it!  This division is unhealthy for the body of Christ.  We suffer way too many schisms in the name of pride and dissension.  It is time for a healthy dose of humility.  If we spent less time criticizing and more time sympathizing, we would have a much stronger brotherhood in the body of Christ.  We set a terrible example for those on the outside with our bickering and shouting and striving to out-do each other.

So, how do we know what parts of the Old Testament are still game?  Do we still obey the Ten Commandments, or the teaching on tithing, which is based out of Genesis 14?  Paul instructs us in 2 Timothy 2:15 - "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  We are to spend time in the Word of God, so that we know what is written in there, but even more - we need to be able to "rightly divide" the Word, or be able to discern what it means for the present day believer.

Jesus also expounds on this subject in John 14:26 - "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."  Just as the Spirit of God led the children of Israel by fire and by cloud from Egypt to Canaan's land, so will the Spirit of God lead us to the Spiritual Canaan's land - to the promised land that God has promised for all that seek Him.  Where is this spiritual Canaan's land?  Paul speaks about it in Ephesians 4:15 - "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:"  God's Word is a light that helps us grow in the light of Christ, and little by little we grow to the head of Christ, which speaks of His mind, His way of thinking, His unity with the Father, etc.

Today, I encourage you - have faith in Christ!  That is where your salvation and your righteousness comes from.  And furthermore - do the works of the Father.  Jesus even gave His disciples works to do in Matthew 10.  I wish to leave you with this list of works He gave His disciples - it extends to us as fellow disciples of Christ.  As you read this list, reflect on what you do for Christ to spread His message to a lost and dying world.

Matthew 10:5-42 /  5These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

9Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

10Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

11And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

12And when ye come into an house, salute it.

13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

 17But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

24The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

God bless!

03-18-12 - Ye Are Few In Number

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-18-12-ye-are-few-in-number.html

Deuteronomy 7:7-8 / 7The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye
were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
8But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had
sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed
you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

"DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH" by R-Swift

I know we discussed this topic a month ago, but I am coming back to the same scripture with a new
format.  Today, we will be delivering this message at Sanction House, a ministry in the West End of
Louisville, KY that seeks to help those in need.  If you are interested in donating to their cause, you
can find their info on our Facebook page under "Places You Can Donate To".

We went to visit the church a few weeks ago, and the Lord began to speak to me.  The congregation
was small, and there would be many who would look upon this church with disdain because it was
small, or that it wasn't a huge building, or that it was located in a more dangerous part of town.
However, the LORD gave me an encouraging word for that congregation that I will give today at the
church, and that I am going to share here on GodTalk.

God is not interested in where you begin - He is interested in where you are going.  He is not
interested in the clay - He is interested in the work of art.  He is not interested in the coal - He is
interested in the diamond.

God has vision for what your life can be, and it is going to take you "letting go, and letting God", as
the old saying goes.  God cannot operate through a rebellious life.  He can give you a vision for your
life, but until you decide to walk in that vision, you will never fulfill the purpose God has for your life.

When we all come to God, we all begin with sin in our lives.  There is not one of us that can proudly
boast to another, "I was less of a sinner than you!"  Christ even goes so far as to teach in Luke 7:47 - "Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but
to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little."  How can you boast about your "goodness"?
God testifies that if you think you have little sin, then you will likely look down on others who came
from a life of a lot of sin.

The secret is - WE ALL HAVE A LOT OF SIN!  If you think you only have a little sin when you begin
in God, that is evidence that you are blind to sin in your life.  Without Christ, we are all as lepers, who
were commanded in the Old Testament to shout, "Unclean!"  We all come to God with spiritual
leprosy, and He wants to heal us of the plague that infects our lives.

Getting back on topic - with a handful, God can do so much.  We can never look upon numbers and
say that it is impossible for God to use us.  AS A MATTER OF FACT, GOD IS NOT INTERESTED IN
YOUR NUMBERS!  Gideon had a force of 22,000 that God chiseled down to 300 before they went off
to war - and they were victorious!  You cannot look on outward numbers and expect to see godly
results!  If that were the case, then man could boast and say, "It is because of my hand that this got accomplished".  God will not share His glory with any other.  If we try to steal God's glory and claim it
for ourselves, we are in competition with God.  This is not only idolatry, but also setting yourself up on
the throne for worship!  It is one thing to worship a false god - it is another entirely to crave the
worship for yourself!  We must never let numbers become our central point of focus!

I will go on one more tangent before we continue, because this is important.  King David, in 1
Chronicles 21, was moved to count Israel.  This was not according to God's will - therefore, when the
counting was done, God destroyed 70,000 people of Israel with a plague.  He has always testified
against people building their own personal Tower of Babel!  You cannot look upon numbers to think in
terms of godly prosperity!  The two are at enmity with one another.

We can see this in 1 Timothy 6:5 - "Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute
of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself."  We are taught of
the Word of God to withdraw from men who teach that the more you have, the better you are in God!
God doesn't advocate this way of thinking - it produces covetousness and bitterness within us.  We
have to hear the gentle rebuke of 1 Timothy 6:6 - "But godliness with contentment is great gain."
God will increase us in His timing.  For now, it is time to focus our attentions on Jesus - not on man!

In a church that only has a few members, a lot of good can still happen!  God gave a scripture in
Deuteronomy 32:30 - "How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight,
except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?"  God can do SO MUCH
with a willing, obedient servant.  First, He wants to see your faithfulness.  Before He entrusts you with
much, He wants to see how you handle the little.  ARE YOU FAITHFUL WITH THE LITTLE GOD HAS ENTRUSTED YOU?

In the Old Testament, there were rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties and rulers of
tens.  God may have appointed you as a ruler of tens (lower level).  Don't lust for what you don't have -
instead, be grateful for what you do have.  Do the good work of a servant of Christ in whatever God has
called you to do, and do it with a cheerful heart.  You are called with a heavenly, holy calling to serve
the LORD.

Man looks on physical gain as evidence of prosperity.  With God, it is not so. For some, He has given
5 talents, while He has only given 2 to another.  It is not up to us to wrest from each other power and
control.  THIS IS EVIDENCE THAT WE ARE NOT IN SUBJECTION TO THE LORD!  It is up to us, as
Christians, to serve the LORD in faithfulness!

What scriptures can we reflect upon that will lean us in the right direction?  Today I Ieave you with
three scriptures that teach us not to be lusting for more power and control, but rather to serve the
LORD with a willing heart, and not to worry about size.  REMEMBER - WE SERVE THE KING OF
THE UNIVERSE!  In spite of our small size, God is able to handle any deficiency we have with NO
PROBLEM!

1 Samuel 16:7 - But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the
height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for
man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Jeremiah 1:6-8 / 6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send
thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

Matthew 25:23 - His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been
faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of
thy lord.

God bless!

03-19-12 - Excuses, Excuses

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-19-12-excuses-excuses.html

Luke 14:18, 24 /  18And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto
him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me
excused.
24For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.

"EXCUSES" by the Kingsmen

Lyrics to "EXCUSES" by the Kingsmen
http://www.justsomelyrics.com/325201/Kingsmen-Excuses-Lyrics

How we LOVE to give excuses!  "My dog ate my homework...she started it...I guess I forgot again,
huh..." - and the list goes on and on.  Do you love to employ excuses?

There are two major problems with excuses:

#1 - THEY RELEASE YOU OF RESPONSIBILITY
#2 - THEY PREVENT YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

The first part sounds really good! You don't want to take the blame for it - JUST MAKE UP AN
EXCUSE! If it sounds good enough, then you may be able to get the situation off of your back.  So
far, so good...right?

The problem is that you have shown yourself IRRESPONSIBLE.  You may have gotten off temporarily,
but who is going to trust you the next time the situation comes up?  Or better yet - when any
situation comes up?  You will be one of the last people counted trustworthy enough to handle the
situation, and any future situations to come.

In real life, people need reliable help.  On the job, at home, between friends - it is good to have
someone to help you in a time of need!  We even learn this principle in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 / 9Two
are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
 10For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth;
for he hath not another to help him up.
11Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
12And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not
quickly broken.

The Bible promotes good teamwork, where people seek to work together, rather than trumping one
another, and rather than offering excuses.  The original scripture of the lesson refers to God offering a
supper (which speaks of the rapture) to those who are bidden.  Instead of preparing for the supper,
they all make excuses.  God doesn't do well with excuses - THEY TIE HIS HANDS!  So, those who
offered Him excuses miss out on the blessings He had prepared for them as well.

Today, if you have made a bad habit of offering excuses in life, or to the LORD, take time to think
about this, repent of it, and overcome it.  It is better to do good, make a mistake, and admit to the
mistake, rather than to do nothing at all.  Through the efforts of life, you will make mistakes from time
to time.  It isn't falling down that dictates what type of person you are - it is if you are able to bounce
back from a fall.  The good news is, when you finally come to Jesus of an honest, humble heart, He
will heal that desire to offer excuses, and trade it with a desire to do good work of an earnest spirit!

God bless!

03-20-12 / Christians vs. Non-Christians

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-20-12-christians-vs-non-christians.html

Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.

"YOU ARE MY KING (AMAZING LOVE)" by The Newsboys

Lyrics to "YOU ARE MY KING (AMAZING LOVE)" by the Newsboys
http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/n/newsboys/you_are_my_king_amazing_love.html

How do you explain Christ to someone who has never really tasted of Him?  You can't - until
someone actually experiences Christ, they cannot understand what it feels like to have Christ in your
life.

One of the ways I use to explain the feeling of God is kind of like drinking tequila.  If you have never
drank before, you won't understand!  But it is kind of like this - take a double shot.  Wait about a
minute, then take another double shot.  Do this about six times.  Do you know what that warm feeling
feels like on the inside?  That is kind of what the Holy Ghost feels like - it  feels warm and peaceful.
The best part about the Holy Ghost is that there is no hangover in the morning, and you still have
money in your wallet!

Now, for the big question - what does this have to do with learning about God?  The point is, until
someone experiences God for themselves, they cannot understand why you are how you are.  They
cannot understand why you act the way you act.  Jesus even says it in John 3:8 - "The wind
bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it
cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."  He testifies that those
who do not have the Spirit (the Holy Ghost) will not understand where you are coming from.

This does not give you the right to strike at those who do not understand.  We are taught by Jesus to
"turn the other cheek" (Matthew 5:39).  We are to pray for our enemies, and to love them - even if
they don't love us.

I know recently I have been discussing this topic more than I think I have ever before, but I feel it is so
important.  How can you expect someone to receive the gospel of love when you present it with
malice?  You must forgive people their sins.  You may not be able to be around certain people,
because it creates bad situations.  It may be best to get away for the moment, and come back later
when things have cooled down.

We all have had trouble in this area - I am by far no exception to the rule.  But I testify to you that
God is faithful to work with me, to help me to love those that don't love me.  It is not an easy thing.
But if we work together as one body of believers, we can show what Christianity is really about -
loving your neighbor as yourself.  EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEE EYE TO EYE WITH THEM.

Today, I encourage you to forgive those who have wronged you, and ask forgiveness if you have
wronged someone else.  Demonstrate love for those who don't love you.  Do good to them that don't
like you.  It may be that they are secretly needing something real in their lives.

God bless!

03-21-12 / Pray According To God's Will

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-21-12-pray-according-to-gods-will.html

Matthew 6:6 - 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut
thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall
reward thee openly.

"MOUNTAIN GET OUT OF MY WAY" Traditional Hymn

Lyrics to "MOUNTAIN GET OUT OF MY WAY"

Today is a more swift lesson, designed for reflecting on God's Word.  God has given us a recipe for
prayer.

God gave us specific instructions on prayer.  It is important that we know God's Will on prayer - how
do we expect God to answer our prayers if we don't pray right?  Some people pray just any old
prayer, and they get mad or discouraged when they don't see results.  If you want to get better, you
must see the doctor!  In this case, we're talking 'bout Dr. Jesus!!!

I am going to give you a short list of how to pray - I know I have covered these recently, but I feel it is
important to come back to the basics again.  Sometimes repetition works wonders for us!

#1 - PRAY IN FAITH
James 1:5-7 /  5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea
driven with the wind and tossed.
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

#2 - PRAY ACCORDING TO THE WILL OF GOD
Matthew 6:9-13 /  9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

#3 - PRAY TO THE FATHER IN JESUS' NAME
Matthew 18:19-20 / 19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in
heaven.
20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of
them.

#4 - PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
James 5:16 - 16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be
healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

#5 - FORGIVE OTHERS BEFORE YOU PRAY
Matthew 6:14-15 / 14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also
forgive you:
15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

This still probably does not thoroughly cover all the basics on prayer, but it gets you in the right spot.
In short - a person must believe that God can do it, and they must pray according to God's will.  They
cannot give up after one prayer.  God wants a PRAYER WARRIOR!

Today, I encourage you - if there is something you are praying for, don't lose hope!  Pray according to
God's Will, and find a prayer partner to pray with.  God will preserve you in the midst of your storm,
and when you walk out of it, you will not only be able to praise Him for His goodness - you will also
be able to strengthen someone else who is going through the same thing!

God bless!

ARE YOU GIVING YOUR BEST?  This is the challenge that the song puts forth for you.  The singer
testifies to how God gave His best for him, and how he was going to return the favor to Him.  In like
manner, think upon it - are you a 100-fold Christian?  Have you laid your life down at the feet of Jesus wholeheartedly - or are there still parts of your life that you withhold from the LORD?

Jesus spoke of good ground producing 30, 60 and 100 fold.  It is interesting that we often relate this
to 30%, 60% and 100%.  However, that is not what the scripture says - it says 30 FOLD, 60 FOLD
AND 100 FOLD.  This has nothing to do with percentages, but rather with what the Lord helps us to
do.  Some of us have a higher calling than others.  Some of us are called to minister to the nations,
while some of us are called to minister to those around us.

Consider this - Jesus told the 12 disciples that they would travel everywhere with him, yet He sent the
healed demoniac in Mark 5:1-20 back to his hometown of Decapolis to testify there for the Lord.
ARE YOU GOING WHERE THE LORD HAS SENT YOU?  If God is tugging on your heart, what is
holding you back?

When we think of 30% serving the Lord, this means that there is a 70% blockage in the Will
department.  I am here to tell you that if you are giving only 30% to the LORD, you are having trouble
in the thorny ground department!  Consider this - if your heart was only getting a 30% flow of blood,
how well would your body function?  You would be on the verge of a heart attack (if you weren't
already there).  At the very least, there would be no way that you could operate to the full potential
your body was able.  The same can be said for 60% blood flow - your body would be more sluggish
than normal, as you would be down to almost half of your full potential.

To really accomplish what the LORD has in store for you, it takes giving the LORD 100% of your life!
This way, there is nothing that you are withholding from Him!  CONSIDER - WHATEVER YOU
WITHHOLD FROM THE LORD WILL HOLD YOU BACK FROM BEING WHAT HE HAS CALLED
YOU TO BE!  From there, the Lord will take your gifts and multiply them - "some thirty, and some
sixty, and some an hundred".

Today, I encourage you - think upon whatever it is that you cannot give up to the Lord.  WHATEVER
YOU WITHHOLD FROM THE LORD WILL BE THE VERY THING THAT HOLDS YOU BACK FROM
BEING WHAT HE HAS CALLED YOU TO BE!  I know I said it once already, but it needs to be
repeated.  We cannot call ourselves "good-ground" Christians if we allow the cares and pleasures of
this world ("thorny ground") to choke out our love for the LORD.  However, if you repent and decide to
give God your all, I promise you won't regret it.  Not only will the Lord give you genuine peace, but you
will see real fruit grow in your life!

God Bless!

03-23-12 / Holy Hatred

Galatians 5:16 - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

"I'M IN THE LORD'S ARMY" by Cedarmont Kids

Lyrics to "I'M IN THE LORD'S ARMY" by Cedarmont Kids
http://www.elyrics.net/read/c/cedarmont-kids-lyrics/i_m-in-the-lord_s-army-lyrics.html

There are many that want to discuss the "love" side of God, but they HATE the "hate" side of God.
Some people feel that the only way God would be just is if He allowed them to get by with their sin.
They feel justified and comfortable in their own situations, believing that God is audacious to require a
level of perfection from mankind.

The truth is, in spite of that requirement of perfection, God knows that it is impossible for man to be
without sin, which is the standard He requires.  Therefore, Jesus, the Son of God, took our place - He
took our punishment upon Himself.  He came to Earth in the form of a human, and He lived a life
without sin, and He gave His life in our place by dying on the cross for our sins.  Therefore, by faith
we can embrace His righteousness in our lives, and we can claim salvation for ourselves through the
price that He paid in our place.

Okay - so we are saved...but what now?  There are still things in life that we have to overcome...lust...anger...rebellion...etc.  How can we overcome these things?

God wants to instill something within us - HOLY HATRED.  This is a side of His personality that
hates the sin that wars against us.  We are talking about the temptations that beset us - the desires
to rebel against God's commands.  If you love your sin, you may not have a strong desire to part from
it.  This puts you in the same boat as Lot's wife, who escaped Sodom and Gomorrah, yet was turned
into a pillar of salt for turning to look back.  God specifically commanded to not look back, lest they
be consumed in the judgment (Genesis 19:17, 26).

When God commands you to flee from sin, you must have a warrior-like attitude against that sin.
You know that the temptation is going to arise in the near future.  It is up to you to take the initiative
and war against that sin that fights against you, tempting you to disobey God's Word.  Just as Adam
and Eve were tempted by the serpent to disobey God, we are also tempted daily to disobey God's
Word, being tempted with situations that would turn us aside from following Him 100%.

What are our weapons?  God has provided us with His Word, the Holy Bible, which is our sword
against temptation.  We see a list of spiritual armor in Ephesians 6:14-18, and we are also taught to
pray, as well as to praise the Lord.  BUT - we really need God's holy hatred instilled within us.  We
need a genuine desire to depart from the sins that entangle us.

Today, I encourage you - if there is a sin (or sins) in your life that you love and do not want to depart
from, pray for God to instill a desire within you to depart from that sin.  Philippians 2:13 promises us
that "...it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure".  Trust God
to work His desire within you to overcome those sins.  Be encouraged - Jesus promises in Matthew
6:27 - "Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?"  This means that
you cannot make yourself any more spiritual by doing it yourself.  God must work it within you.  Pray
for God to help!

God bless!

03-24-12 / Let Him Be Filthy Still

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-24-12-let-him-be-filthy-still.html

Revelation 22:11 / He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be
filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be
holy still.

"CHANGE MY HEART O GOD" by Hillsong

Lyrics to "CHANGE MY HEART OH GOD" by Hillsong
http://www.corneliushenry.com/change-my-heart-oh-god-hillsong-with-lyrics/

We all have a choice in life.  We are blessed with the freedom to choose whatever we want - but there
are consequences ahead.  We can choose that which is holy, or that which is filthy.  We can choose
that which is righteous, or that which is unjust.  God has blessed us with the ability to choose for
ourselves.

Here is a secret - YOU CANNOT FORCE ANYONE TO DO WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO!  Even
if you get an outward response, what about that of the heart?  People may follow you out of fear, but
is their heart truly in it?  Even in teaching Christianity, I can teach you the right way to go (which is to
Jesus), but I cannot force you to do the things which He requires.

God has laid out a path for those who choose to do it His way, and it involves keeping your focus
upon Jesus in all things.  There was a saying that went around a few years back - WWJD?  It stood
for "What Would Jesus Do?".  People wore it on T-Shirts and wristbands, and it was a constant
reminder to examine your motives and actions.

Here is a deeper thing, when you get into what is being written in Revelation 22.  Let's take a quick
look atverse 10 - "And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for
the time is at hand."  This is the verse directly preceding the scripture that is the focus of this
message.  God is saying the "time is at hand".  Some may say, "That was 2,000 years ago -
obviously the time is not at hand!"  It may be true that 2,000 years does not seem like "at hand", but
every scripture also holds doctrine for each person in his or her own life.  Verses 10 and 11 tell a
story about every one of us - if we don't choose to change, God is going to allow us to stay in our
pig-sty of sin.

We see in Genesis 6:3 - "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for
that he also is flesh..."  God "strives" with mankind to urge us to turn from our sin.  This word
"strive" comes from the Hebrew "דִּין" (diyn), and it means "to judge, contend, plead".  God not only
pleads with us internally (via conscience, or impressions from the Holy Spirit), but He will also send
out prophets and ministers with messages about doing that which is right and holy in the eyes of God.

God often describes mankind as "stiffnecked".  A "stiffnecked" person is someone who refuses to
look in a different direction - they have their focus only on one thing, and they refuse to change their
way of thinking.  We see an example of this in Deuteronomy 9:13-14 / 13Furthermore the LORD
spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I
will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

God was angry with Israel for their wicked disobedience.  They had seen all the mighty miracles He
had done for them in Egypt, and how He brought them out by His hand, and how He fed them
supernaturally in the wilderness - yet they immediately turned back to their sinful passions when
Moses was upon the mountain with God, receiving the law.  THERE WAS NO HEART CHANGE.
They were saved from Egypt, and they were on the path to Canaan's land (the path of righteousness),
yet they willingly disobeyed.

How long must God strive with us and plead with us to turn from our wickedness?  He knows that He
must judge sin, and He doesn't want to destroy us, but He will not plead forever with mankind.  As He
spoke in Revelation 2:21-23 / 21And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she
repented not.
22Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which
searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your
works.

He gave a woman, who set herself up as a woman of God, but who was secretly a Jezebel (a
seductress who seduced the servants of God), TIME TO REPENT!  It was in her hands to repent, but
God gave the warning - if she did not repent of her ways, He was going to bring a harsh judgment
upon her and her family.

People want the lovey-dovey side of God, but they don't want the judgment side of Him.  You cannot
seperate the two - they are both a part of God.  The honest truth is that God's mercy is superior to
His judgment.  He always is long-suffering with mankind, seeking to turn us from our wickedness so
that we are not consumed in the judgment.

Today, consider what God is pressing upon your heart.  Is He calling you out of sin that you have
allowed to rule your life?  Whatever it is, give it to Jesus.  Let Him heal you of that sin, and let Him
birth a new desire of holiness within your heart.  REMEMBER - GOD WILL NOT STRIVE FOREVER
WITH YOU.  He will allow you to continue in sin for so long, but eventually, all sin must be judged.
PUT IT UNDER THE BLOOD!

If you want to be forgiven of your sins and accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and
Saviour, you can begin that today!  You don't have to be in a church building to be saved - what
matters is you coming before God humbly and letting Him be your God.  Here is a prayer that you
can pray:

"Dear Jesus, please forgive me of my sins.  Please come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour.
I believe that you are the Son of God, and that you died on the cross for my sins.  I believe that you
rose from the dead, and that you are seated at the right hand of the Father.  Please Lord, take my life
and make it yours.  I give my life to you - AMEN."

If you prayed that prayer sincerely, God has heard your prayer, and you are saved!  However, THIS IS
JUST THE BEGINNING!  It does not just end with praying the Sinner's Prayer.  You need to find a
good church home - a place where not only do they preach the Word of God, but where the people
have a genuine spirit of love.  According to Acts 2:38, be baptized in the name of Jesus for the
remission of sins, and pray for the gift of the Holy Spirit!  Go to church, and begin to learn about
God's Word.  His Word will lead you and guide you daily.

God bless!

03-25-12 / Rejoice, Rejoice, REJOICE!

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-25-12-rejoice-rejoice-rejoice.html

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

"AGAIN I SAY REJOICE" by Israel & New Breed

Lyrics to "AGAIN I SAY REJOICE" by Israel & New Breed

REJOICE!  REJOICE!!  REJOICE!!!

This is the word of the day!  Do you remember Pee-wee's Playhouse?  They used to have a Secret
Word of the Day.  Pee-wee Herman would go up to Conky the Robit and say, "Hey Conky, what's the
Secret Word?"  Out of Conky's chest magically appeared the Secret Word!  Oh, ok...maybe it wasn't
magic.  Maybe the word was already there in his chest, and it just had to appear as if it was printing
out...but it sure was fun as a kid watching Pee-wee go crazy when the Secret Word was spoken
during the show.  I had to go back on You-tube just to watch some of the clips.

The Word of the Day, REJOICE, is no secret, my friend!  We are given a brand new day to praise God
for the many blessings He has given up.  His holy creation is filled with such beauty, and He has a
plan for every one of us.  When we embrace that plan, He begins to instill a sense of peace within our
lives that conquers every crazy feeling.

Here is a secret (that shouldn't be a SECRET ANY LONGER!) - when you begin to praise God, you
war against the forces that battle against you.  Depression, anxiety, worry...they are all washed away
when we lift up the Holy Name of JESUS!  I can take you to scriptures in the Bible where battles were
won due to praising the name of God!  In 2 Chronicles 20, when the worshippers began to praise the
beauty of holiness, lifting up the name of the LORD, the enemies became confused and turned on one
another!  Israel was left with the spoils!  In Exodus 17, when Moses held his arms up in praise to the
LORD (and later was helped by Aaron and Hur), Israel was victorious in battle against Amalek.  In
Joshua 6, it was the obedience of a shout unto the LORD that brought down the walls of Jericho.  In
Exodus 14, it was Moses lifting up the rod that provoked God to split the Red Sea, and it was him
later lifting the rod that caused the waters to come back to their normal levels.

I could go on and on, but the SECRET is that when you begin to praise God, you war against those
forces that war against you - and you will emerge victorious!  THESE CHAINS OF DARKNESS
CANNOT HOLD YOU DOWN FOREVER!  Through praise, you will find victory for your soul!

Today, I encourage you - no matter how the circumstances look, begin to praise God in the midst of
them.  Lift up the name of JESUS, and you will emerge victorious!

God bless!

03-26-12 / Hand to the Plow

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-26-12-hand-to-plow.html

Luke 9:62 - And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the
plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

"KEEP YOUR HAND ON THE PLOW" by Mahalia Jackson

Lyrics to "KEEP YOUR HAND ON THE PLOW" by Mahalia Jackson
http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858692737/

"Keep your hand to the plow, keep your hand to the plow
Don't look back, there's work to do now
One day you'll see the fruit from what you've done
Keep on a plowin', my faithful son"

I just made up those lyrics!  Let's have a bit of fun today, shall we?  What is today's
message about?

In Christianity, this is based on a parable that Jesus gives in Luke 9.  You must read
verse 61 to understand the context, so let's take a look at Luke 9:61-62 / 61And
another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell,
which are at home at my house.
62And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and
looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Jesus made no bones about it - if we are truly going to follow God, we don't have time
to go tell Mommy and Daddy about it.  For some, this may be a bit rough around the
edges, but Jesus reveals something here.  You cannot give people time to talk you
out of the decision you have made.  Your walk with God is between you and Him, and
often your own family will not follow in your footsteps.  Some will, but following Christ
will also seperate you from some of your family.

What you will find when you come into a Christian walk is that you have a new family
- a spiritual one.  These ties will often be stronger than the ones you have from your
blood-kin.  You are bound by a new blood - THE BLOOD OF JESUS!  These who
obey the Word of God, they are your brother, your mother and your sister.

There is work to do, and God has called you to do His work!  You cannot be an
effective worker if you keep one hand in the world, and one hand on the plow!  There
will be a tug-of-war, and you will get torn apart.  You will truly be the one that suffers
most from this.  Christ says it in this wise -"Ye are not of this world".  You do not owe
the world an explanation for your choice to serve Christ.  Your mission is laid out for
you in Matthew 28:19-20 / 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
It is likewise mentioned in James 1:27 - Pure religion and undefiled before God
and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and
to keep himself unspotted from the world.

How does this scripture apply in non-religious terms?  It is quite simple - when you
decide to take up any work, you cannot do a good job if you keep calling in to work,
or keep offering excuses.  How do you expect the little you are entrusted with to
flourish with a lackadaisical attitude?  If you want to see good fruitfulness come from
your work, you need to keep your hand on the plow!

Today, I encourage you - keep your hand on the plow!  It begins in the heart.  You
have to make a commitment to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, and do the work that He
has called you to do.  You do the work, and He will see to it that fruit comes from
what you have done!

I leave you with this verse to meditate upon - Isaiah 55:10-11 / 10For as the rain
cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but
watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to
the sower, and bread to the eater:
11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return
unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper
in the thing whereto I sent it.

God bless!

03-27-12 / For The LORD Shall Comfort Zion

Isaiah 51:3 - For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste
places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the
garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving,
and the voice of melody.

Today, I want to simply comfort you - you may be going through a lot.  As we said in
church on Sunday, just because things seem to be going crazy doesn't mean God
has abandoned you.  Just as the eagle pushes the baby out of the nest to teach it out
to fly, so God is going to shake you out of your comfort zone.  THIS IS NOT TO
DESTROY YOU, BUT YOU MAKE YOU STRONGER.  As you experience these
adverse conditions, you are going to learn to spread your spiritual wings and FLY!
God is not through with you yet!

I leave you with one more song today - allow God to have His perfect work in your
heart, and in your life!

03-28-12 / Sold Under Sin

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-28-12-sold-under-sin.html

Romans 7:14 / For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold
under sin.

"RELEASE ME (FROM MY SIN)" by George Jones

Lyrics to "RELEASE ME (FROM MY SIN)" by George Jones

This is the cry of anyone who is serious in God.  We see our sin, and we hate it.  Not
only do we see our own sin, but we see the sin in the lives of those around us as
well.  This is a blessing and a curse at the same time.  It brings joy to us that we
know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel (AKA deliverance from our sin
through the blood of Jesus).  The curse is the pain we feel seeing those around us we
love that are still under the ol' ball and chain.  The worst part is that not only are they
under the bondage, but they are blind to it as well.  They give themselves a sense of
comfort in believing that there is no God, no sin and nothing to worry about.  Nothing
could be farther from the truth - God is patient, but at the end, He must judge all sin.
We either stand before Him with the righteousness of Christ, which we receive through
faith in Him, or we are judged according to our own works (which never add up to the
standard God requires from man).

I want to take you to a scripture in the Old Testament we have discussed recently
about leprosy.  Leviticus 13:45 - And the leper in whom the plague is, his
clothes shall be rent, and his head bare, and he shall put a covering upon his
upper lip, and shall cry, Unclean, unclean.  Just as the leper has a physical
ailment that causes him to cry out, so we have a spiritual plague within - the plague of
sin.

But you may say, "I am forgiven of my sins!"  THIS IS TRUE - yet there is more work
to go.  Forgiveness does not equal overcoming!  You still must grow in Christ, daily
seeking to "put off the old man with his deeds" (Colossians 3:9).  Why else would
Paul cry out in Romans 7:24, "O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me
from the body of this death?"  He knew that, even though he was saved, he still
had a daily battle against sin, and HE HATED THAT SIN!  He desperately wanted to
be set free, but he realized that God's grace was what was going to help him continue
to grow daily until the day he was set free from the body of death.

God has a promise for us, if we will only believe - just as Jesus resurrected from the
dead, and many of the Old Testament saints rose with Him, so shall we rise up from
this "body of death" one day to be forever with the LORD in glory!  Today, while we
still live in this temple of flesh, this "body of death", let us seek to overcome the sins
that seek to destroy us in the name of JESUS!  Allow the blood of Jesus to wash
away every stain, every worry, every care, every weakness, and allow His strength to
help you fly when you feel weary!  God is faithful to help you end the race that He has helped you start!

God bless!

Psalm 119:47 - And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have

"FAMILY BIBLE" by Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson

Lyrics to "FAMILY BIBLE" by Willie Nelson
http://www.metrolyrics.com/family-bible-lyrics-willie-nelson.html

One of the things that first turned me on to Jesus was His honesty.  It wasn't His love,
nor His forgiveness - it was His truth.

I can still remember where I first cut my teeth in the Bible - the book of Matthew,
chapters 5-7.  I read such sweet words as "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven" in Matthew 5:3,"Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see God" in Matthew 5:8, and "Blessed are the peacemakers: for
they shall be called the children of God" in Matthew 5:9.  I read some of the
most amazing instructions for handling life situations, such as Matthew 5:37 - "But
let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than
these cometh of evil."  And I even learned how to pray inMatthew 6:9-13, which is
commonly referred to as the Lord's Prayer.

How I fell in love with the words of Jesus!  Having grown up in an unstable environment
where I was unable to trust myself, much less anyone else, Jesus' words were a
comfort to me.  They were a rock in the midst of instability (the ways of the world).  I
felt assured that no matter what the world presented to me as truth, Jesus would
never let me down.  And the truth couldn't be any more truth than what it is.  Jesus'
words have not only guided me upon good paths, but they have been my consolation
and preservation in dark times.

God's Word speaks to me.  It guides me, and it comforts me.  This is not the same
thing as simple recollection - His Word interacts with me.  For anyone who has
intimate experience with the Word, they can vouch that the Word is SO MUCH
MORE than just words on a page.  It is a living, breathing force that operates in your
life, causing fruitfulness to bear in due season.

Today, think upon God's Word.  I assure you that it will be a rock in tough times that
will help keep you grounded.  It will be a shield for you when the fiery darts of this
world strike at you.  It will be a comfort in a time of mourning.  It will be a light in times
of darkness.

God bless!

"FREE" by Steven Curtis Chapman

Lyrics to "FREE" by Steven Curtis Chapman
http://www.christianlyricsonline.com/artists/steven-curtis-chapman/free.html

"I'M FREE!"

Unless you have ever been in bondage to anything, you may not know the depression
that overtakes you.  The darkness, the hopelessness, the grief.  You feel like people
are staring at you, pointing at you, laughing at you.  The only way to break free from
the pain is to take another drink, or another hit.  Slowly the pain subsides as you fall
back into the world of oblivion, not caring at all what anyone thinks.  As long as you
are in that shell of protection, no one can hurt you...

And you never realize (or you do, but you are oblivious to it) the toll that it takes on
you financially - your family suffers, your health suffers, your finances suffer.  You
justify pawning a TV to get a quick fix, or selling  your food stamps for the next
12-pack.  You have no problem sacrificing food for your addiction.  You get mad when
people tell you that you have a problem, and that you need help...

Ok, maybe you haven't been down the dark road some simply refer to as "addiction".
I could go on and on about the horror stories of regular everyday people who have
been trapped on the roller-coaster of diabolic cravings and emotional-psychological
trauma that ensues.  The very thing that you need to break free from is the very thing
you become the most dependant on.  You are in chains, and you cannot break free.
Those around you who offer support have no clue about the hell that you have
experienced...they are in a world of light, while you are trapped in a hole of darkness,
without hope, and without ambition.

There is always a part of us that truly wants to be set free from this, but how?  Maybe
your yoke is not drugs - maybe it is something else.  Maybe you are addicted to
attention, or maybe it is shopping.  Maybe it is always trying the next new thing.
Whatever it is, it is no fun to be addicted to anything.  You become a zombie to that
thing - it grabs you, and it refuses to let go.

What I am here to tell you is that God can set you free from those chains!  HOW?
God's Word has the ability to cut the ties.  Hebrews 4:12 teaches us that "the word
of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword..." - and I
am here to tell you that there is REAL POWER in the Word of God to set you free!  It
does not matter what your addiction is, nor what prison you are locked within.  Psalm
139:8 says "If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell,
behold, thou art there."  Just as by the power of God Jesus was able to resurrect
from death, so can He resurrect you from the death of addiction that rules your life!

No matter how bad it has been, you can be set free!  There are men and women of
God who can testify to the hell that they once were part of, and how God changed
their lives!  I am not the only one who has been set free - God is daily changing lives!

Today, if you want a genuine change - if you want to be set free from your chains -
repent of your sins, and begin to proclaim your freedom in Jesus' name!  Find a good
church, and have the ministers pray for you.  This is how I got freedom from the
chains of alcohol - via prayer from the ministers.  If God can do it for me, He can do it
for you too!

God bless!

03-31-12 - Praising Him In Sickness

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/03/03-31-12-praising-him-in-sickness.html

Job 13:15 - Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

"PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND" by Joan Baez

Lyrics to "PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND" by Joan Baez

Can we praise God in sickness and in health?  MOST DEFINITELY!  As a matter of
fact, I say it this way for a reason - "...in sickness and in health..." - do you recognize
those words?  They are most often heard during a marriage.  I want to post an
example of a traditional wedding vow, courtesy of Wikipedia.org.

"I, (Bride/Groom), take you (Groom/Bride), to be my (wife/husband), to have and
to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in
sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death
do us part."

So...you can praise God in health, but not in sickness, right?  You can praise Him in
better, but not in worse?  How about praising Him in the richer, but not in the poorer?
Do you get the point?

If you only praise Him when things go well, it is a sign that you are not treating this
relationship like a marriage.  What is up with this whole spirit of apathy that has
consumed us?  Why do we feel as if we don't owe God so much?  I am not worried
about the nay-sayers who say Jesus wasn't real.  HE WAS. I am not worried about
those who say He didn't die for our sin.  HE DID.  I am not worried about those who
say He hasn't rose from the dead.  HE HAS.  As a matter of fact, He was a witness
to many people after His resurrection - read it for yourself in 1 Corinthians 15:6 -
"After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the
greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep."

The fact is that Jesus rose from the dead for your sins and mine...no, wait...let me go
back.  Jesus DIED for your sins. He beared a huge chunk of rough wood upon his
shredded back and carried it down a path up a hill while getting beat with whips.  He
was spit upon, and they ripped out His beard.  He was punched and kicked.  WHY?
He did these things because the price had to be paid for your sins and mine.

But you say, there are no such thing as sins.  Friend, I beg to differ with you.  Not
only before I got saved did I know that there was a difference between right and wrong,
but I have come to learn to a more intimate detail daily what was right and wrong.
What were my sins.  The thoughts within...the temptations that I succumbed to...the
concessions I made daily.  There were times where I buckled under worry of what
someone else thought, and I FAILED GOD.  This is idolatry.

Sin is so much more than simply "Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal".  It is
ANYTHING that does not match up with the PERFECT WILL OF GOD.  Until you
walk in this realization, you may not feel that you have much sin.  When the day
comes that you realize how far away your level of perfection lines up with God's
perfection, you wake up to the realization that it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to make that
standard.

And then you come back to Jesus, dragging that rough, heavy cross upon his
shredded back down a dusty road to die a horrible death, at the command of His
father.  You begin to realize that without this payment, it is impossible for you to be
saved.  You begin to become grateful for the sacrifice that God made in your place.

The scoffers say that if God was real, He never would have allowed man to sin.  This
doesn't perturb me at all.  Because God gives man freedom of choice, in spite of
knowing we can NEVER meet the level of perfection required, this makes Him evil?
Knowing that Jesus willingly embraced His crucifixion back in eternity, long before the
first man ever walked the earth, because He saw the need that mankind would have to
be redeemed from their shortcomings....

SSSSSHHHHH.....can you hear that?  That is Jesus panting and gasping as He
begins to fall to the ground.  Beyond exhaustion, His body collapses, but not His will.
He must make it to be crucified...but His body will not go any longer.  And along
comes Simon of Cyrene, to pick up that cross, and help Jesus get to the place where
He will hang in that hot sun and begin to suffocate - all for YOUR sins and MINE.

"Were you there when they crucified my Lord? Were you there when they nailed Him
to the tree?  Were you there when they pierced Him in the side?  Were you there
when they laid Him in the tomb?"  These are lyrics from a Marian Anderson song.  If
the Lord is pressing upon your heart, you begin to become sensitive to the amazing
cost it took to reconcile you back to the standard that is required by God's judgment
side.

This is the wrath side that people love to criticize - the side of God that requires
justice, and will bring judgment upon mankind when they choose to continue in their
sin.  This side of God is always governed by His longsuffering nature, which gives
mankind time for repentance, yet in the end, if we choose not to repent, as it is
written in Genesis 6:3 - "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive
with man, for that he also is flesh..."  God has paid the price for us, but it is no
excuse for us to refrain from seeking His righteousness -"Learn to do well; seek
judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow"
(Isaiah 1:17).

In short, realizing the impossible level of perfection that was required by God for
perfection, and realizing the price that Jesus paid to make it possible for us, in our
imperfection, to walk in a level of relationship with God that before was only reserved
for the perfect - WE SHOULD BE READY TO PRAISE HIM IN A HEARTBEAT!

This morning, when I woke up, my head was spinning.  I didn't feel like I could move
without an extreme sense of nausea.  It was highly reminiscent of the old Jim Beam
days...loads of fun!  As I finally made my way to the bathroom, in the midst of the
trial, I was thinking about God.  I was asking for forgiveness for my sins, and thanking
Him, in spite of my weakness.

This does not mean I am perfect - as a matter of fact, I know I am not perfect.  But
what I do know is that, even if I am not feeling well, GOD IS STILL WORTHY!  My
Jesus reconciled me from my sin, and this earth is not my home.  My home will be
with Him for eternity, because He loves me, and He made a way for me to be with
Him.

Today, consider the type of relationship you have with God.  Do you praise Him in
sickness AND in health?  Or do you only praise Him during the times of prosperity?
Our relationship with God must be balanced, where we come to the place where Paul
spoke of in Philippians 4:11-13/ 11Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have
learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where
and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to
abound and to suffer need.
13I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

God bless!

04-01-12 / It's Sunday!!!

Psalm 139:14 / I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

"IT'S A BEAUTIFUL MORNING" by The Rascals

Lyrics to "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL MORNING" by The Rascals
http://www.oldielyrics.com/lyrics/the_rascals/a_beautiful_morning.html

This is the type of attitude we need!  Why are we grumbling and complaining?
"Awww man, it's Sunday...my Louisville Cardinals lost, tomorrow's work, and it's
raining outside!"  If you are from Louisville, Ky, you may be feeling a bit of this
drudgery, but NOTHING TO FEAR!  Sunday's HERE!!!  :-)

Guys, today is the day that you get to spend with your family, coming together, loving
one another, and lifting up the name of Jesus, who made us one family, one blood,
one love!  Today is the day to lift up His name with gladness and joy!  Today is the
day to celebrate!

Okay, you may not be feeling the love yet - how about some pictures to make you
smile?

Psalm 92:4 - For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will
triumph in the works of thy hands.

1 Chronicles 16:23 - Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to
day his salvation.

Galatians 5:22-23 / 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Okay, hopefully you're smiling a bit more now...trust me friend, being down won't
change your circumstances.  A real smile is the one that shines in the midst of the
circumstances, knowing that, as Paul spoke in Acts 20:24, "...none of these things
move me...".

There is a song that is sung in the Christian churches from time to time called "I
SHALL NOT BE MOVED".  I will testify to you that I am not perfect in this!  I still get
stressed out from time to time - even yesterday getting physically sick from all the
stress going on around me!  Yet, I know that God is working on me, and He births a
real satisfaction in my soul.

I leave you with these lyrics, and I encourage you to look upon Sunday in a new light -
not with grumbling nor complaining, but with joy and gladness!  God bless!

Jesus is my Savior, I shall not be moved;
In His love and favor, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

In my Christ abiding, I shall not be moved;
In His love I'm hiding, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

If I trust Him ever, I shall not be moved;
He will fail me never, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

On His word I'm feeding, I shall not be moved;
He's the One that's leading, I shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

Chorus
I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
I shall not be, I shall not be moved;
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
Lord, I shall not be moved.

04-02-12 / He That Dwelleth In The Secret Place

http://godtalklouisvilleky.blogspot.com/2012/04/psalm-911-he-that-dwelleth-in-secret.html

Psalm 91:1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty.

"PSALM 91" by Lincoln Brewster

Lyrics to "PSALM 91" by Lincoln Brewster
http://www.stlyrics.com/songs/l/lincolnbrewster20240/psalm91538040.html

Hello and good morning to everyone who took the time to check out the blog!  I greatly
appreciate every one of you!

Yesterday, we went to a church in the area that we have been to before.  A travelling
minister was in yesterday by the name of Ron Waters - you can see a YouTube video
of one of his messages at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ha6ZpZ8mUYI.
Yesterday, he began to shake under the power of God, and he gave a very convicting
message concerning Psalm 91 that I wanted to share with the readers.

Many people reference Psalm 91 as a prophecy of protection and comfort in their
lives, but Ron pointed out something  very important concerning this prophecy - "He
that dwelleth...".  Ron began to make a valid case for the word "dwelleth".  The word
"dwelleth" comes from the Hebrew word "יָשַׁב" (yashab), which means "to dwell,
remain, sit, abide".  His point is extremely valid - how can we expect to embrace a
prophecy when we don't obey the conditions to fulfill it in our life?

Prophecy comes from God, given to man via the Bible (or through a prophet), and it is
based upon FAITH.  You cannot allow prophecy to work in your life unless you
BELIEVE!  Not only that you believe - you must OBEY!

This is a two-part work that must be done on our heart to activate the prophecy in our
lives.  First, we must BELIEVE.  A person with a hard heart of unbelief cannot be
moved by the Word of God, so how can they expect God to work miracles in their
lives?  Just because someone is saved doesn't mean they cannot have a level of
unbelief in their life.  God's will is to increase our faith by quenching our unbelief.  As
we come into new situations and circumstances in life, God will begin to move, being
faithful to show us His mighty hand in action, which whets our appetite to have more
of Him in our life.  If we refuse to hear, how can we expect God to move?  You can
read it for yourself in Matthew 13:58 - "And he did not many mighty works there
because of their unbelief."

Second is obedience - you can believe, but still not be obedient!  James speaks of
this in James 2:18-20 / 18Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have
works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by
my works.
19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also
believe, and tremble.
20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?  If you say
you believe, yet you do not act upon that belief, of what worth is your belief?  It is
nothing more than an EMPTY CONFESSION!

Of course, we cannot take for granted that a person's eyes must be opened to this
new walk of faith.  Until the eyes are opened, the person is blind to the idea of
obeying God in this manner.  THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT A PERSON DOES NOT
KNOW TO OBEY!  It is that the person may not be aware of this new walk that God
is calling them into - God must open the blind eyes of the Christian to the new level
He is calling them to.  Until that point, God winks at the ignorance (Acts 17:30),
allowing us to operate in the level of perfection that He has revealed to us.  He will be
faithful to reveal new levels of perfection to us step by step as we spend alone time
with Him.  We read this in Psalm 36:9 - "...in thy light shall we see light...".

What is the point?  HOW DO WE EXPECT GOD TO FULFILL HIS PROMISES IN
OUR LIVES IF WE DON'T FULFILL OUR END OF THE DEAL?  We must first believe,
and then we must obey!

Going back to the original scripture, Psalm 91:1 - "He that dwelleth in the secret
place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."  Let's
break it down one piece at a time slowly so we can absorb how the promise is given.
"Dwelleth" means "to sit, to rest, to abide".  The secret place?  Well, this is a whole
extra lesson in itself, but in short, it involves spending alone time with God, meditating
on His Word, and allowing His Word to penetrate our hearts and cleanse us from our
sin.  This is a daily part of growth in God - His Word cleanses us so that more fruit
can grow.

The last part of the promise?  "...shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
This is akin to having a Big Brother, or a bodyguard.  In short, God will look after you
and preserve you.  You are His cherished creation, and you are bought by the blood of
His son Jesus Christ!

Today, consider - you can have the promise of God in your life!  But it is going to take
you embracing the promise by faith, and then obeying the promise's conditions!  If you
do, you will be very pleased with the outcome!

God bless!

04-03-12 / He That Dwelleth In The Secret Place (Part 2)

Psalm 91:1 - He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty.

"HE THAT DWELLETH IN THE SECRET PLACE (HOSANNA MUSIC) by David W.
Morris

Lyrics to "HE THAT DWELLETH IN THE SECRET PLACE (HOSANNA MUSIC)" by
David W. Morris

We are back on yesterday's topic, ready to cover the next part of the scripture - "the
secret place".  I am certain that you can read plenty of scriptural breakdowns on this,
with tons of different answers, while the real answer is a very simple one.  The "secret
place" involves you getting alone with God and spending some real intimate time with
Him.  Just as a husband and wife come together as one in the marriage bed, so must
a believer come together as one with God.

However, this is obviously not a sexual coming together.  It is a coming together in
body, mind and spirit, but where you submit yourself completely unto the will of God.
This coming in line with God's will actually brings healing properties to your body, soul
and spirit.  Spending alone time with God, submitting yourself to Him 100%, you
begin to soak up the rays of sunshine that He spoke about in Malachi 4:2 - "But
unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing
in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall."  You
see the plain language of the "Sun" and "healing" - this is a written expression of
God's healing nature.  However, anyone who has ever experienced this can contest to
it in the natural.  As a matter of fact, there are some churches that embrace
"soaking", which is exactly what I am referring to.

You can NEVER enter into this secret place if you are not truly willing to bear ALL
before God.  It is not that He cannot see all things - it is that you withhold things from
Him.  How can you expect to receive the hundredfold blessings of God if you give Him
your tablescraps?  He desires a church without spot or wrinkle - let Him heal you of
the wrinkles and blemishes that have tarnished your joy and love.

I will probably continue on this in more depth throughout the week, but I want to give it
to you in small pieces, so you can meditate upon these things.  Consider this - the
more you give to God, the more you get!  The more you submit unto Him, the more
healing you will receive!  Take time to get alone with God, and for that time, think
upon NOTHING but Him.  Love on Him, thank Him, and praise Him for His beauty.
You will begin to understand about entering into the "secret place" as you begin to
incorporate this alone time in your Christian journey.

God bless!

"SECRET PLACE" by Karen Clark Sheard

http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/A-Secret-Place-lyrics-Karen-Clark-Sheard/DD77E83E1CA3CFDF4825708A002A60C3

This is our 3rd and final installment on Psalm 91:1 - today we focus on the last part of
the scripture, "shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty".  This sounds
pretty obvious in terms of a bigger protector watching over us.  There are many
illustrations on the Internet to an eagle or a dove flying over a person, or a tree
providing shade, etc.

In short - God's promise is to watch over His children.  Keep in mind this scripture in
Luke 6:46 - "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I
say?"  If you truly claim to be a child of God, DO YOU OBEY HIM?  With that being
said, we can reflect upon this scripture as we enter in to His promises for our life.

King David gave a very dramatic (and accurate) depiction of God's protection over him
in 2 Samuel 22:2-3 / 2And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and
my deliverer;
3The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my
salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from
violence.

Think upon these words today, as I give you the meaning straight from the Hebrew:

Rock = סֶלַע = cela` = crag, cliff, rock, stronghold
Fortress = מָצוּד = matsuwd = net, prey, net prey, fastness, stronghold
Deliverer = פָּלַט = palat = to escape, save, deliver, slip away
Shield = מָגֵן = magen = shield, buckler
Horn = קֶרֶן = qeren = horn
Salvation = יֵשַׁע = yesha` = deliverance, salvation, rescue, safety, welfare (notice how
close this is to Yeshua, or JESUS!!!)
High Tower = מִשְׂגָּב = misgab = high place, refuge, secure height, retreat
Refuge = מָנוֹס = manowc = flight, refuge, place of escape
Saviour = יָשַׁע = yasha` = to save, be saved, be delivered (once again, how close to
Yeshua - JESUS!)

With this in mind, let us reflect on our end of the deal - spending alone time with God,
and humbling our will underneath His will.  With this comes the promises of protection
and salvation that God provides!  We cannot call ourselves Christians if we don't obey
His Word!  Today is the day of salvation.  This doesn't just mean getting saved - it
also means allowing God to save you "...to the uttermost..." (Hebrews 7:25).

God bless!
