GrayMatter Ladder Chess Discussion

Hi, all,

I'll put in my request to Erik as well; I don't know if it will bump ladder play into the near future but if lots of people request it... it's worth a try. This group is not the only one with a ladder.   Ladder play within groups/teams, and the option for ladders within rating groups would be great, when you reach the top, you can join the next higher rating group, then challenges would be within rating ranges.  Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Well, folks, I just found a setting in the Ladder House on the MyLeagues site that may help us a bit.  Here is the way things are currently set.

  • An 'inactive' player on the ladder is one who has not had a reported win/loss during the last 90 days.  At that point he/she will be automatically dropped from the ladder by MyLeagues.
  • Previously, if a player was inactive for 30 days he/she would be reduced in rank 10 rungs.  This has now been increased to 90 days as well.  This should solve the understandable  frustration that Rob has mentioned above!

There are currently only 16 players on the ladder and only 8 who have been active in the last 3 weeks.  I suspect that as time goes by more and more players will be automatically deleted from the ladder given the very limited activity it is getting.  Personally, although I am currently still on the ladder I have not been playing many ladder games.  I wouldn't be surprised if eventually I got bumped off of the ladder myself for inactivity!

Please note that I no longer actively monitor the ladder.   I have considered simply stopping the ladder since few people are playing on it, but for the sake of those who are there is no reason it can't continue as it is.  If someone else would like to take it over and give it new life, please just contact me and I can arrange for it to pass to someone else to care for and further develop.

Best wishes!
