Games in Progress:

lLenn v. KesterF

So now that the tournament is over and we have our places set in the rankings, we can get this ladder started.

Here are the ladder rules as I can figure would work out best:

To move up the ladder, you must challenge someone of a higher ranking. To issue a challenge, send me a message with the person you want to challenge. If multiple people want to challenge the same person, the first to message me first has the right to challenge. Challenges cannot be refused, or the challenger will automatically win.

The players then play a game with random color choice and time limit of 1/day.

If the defender wins, the defender holds his place and the challenge falls down a rung. If the challenger wins, then the results differ based on the difference between the two player's rankings. If there is a difference of 1-3 rungs, then the two players switch. If there's more than 4 rungs difference, the challenger goes up three rungs and the defender goes down three.

Draws: if there is three or fewer rungs between the players, then the players' rungs remain the same.  If there is four or more rungs between the players, then the higher-rung player remains in the same rung, and the lower-rung player moves up one rung.

Players will alternate defending and challenging. If a player just challenged, then they must wait for a challenge to defend before challenging again.

The ladder board at the top will keep the order of the rankings, say who is currently playing who, and who is available for challenges.

Please post if you have any ideas, suggestions, criticisms, or notice potential problems. If you did not particapate in the tournament but wish to be in the ladder, message me and I'll add you at the bottom of the ranking list.

KesterF

Sounds great to me, though I think I may have reached my peak already! Does this sentence need rewording though:

If the challenger wins, then the results between on the difference between the two rankings.

Thanks for pointing that out and it is now fixed.

WolfStriker1

Feel free to beginning challenging others whenever you are ready.

Redspecial

Well played to everybody in the tournament, congratulations Wolfstriker!

Additionally, after a ladder match, if you have the time, try to post an analysis between the two players so that everyone can learn from each other's games.

WolfStriker1

I just realized that there is nothing set up for what should happen when a challenge ends in a draw.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

WolfStriker1

Update on the draw rules.  Let me know if you they are fair or not.

I want to join it...

Here's the analysis of the first ladder game between Redspecial and me:

Redspecial

Really well played wolfstriker. Although it pains me to bring this up, I really should point out that I now need to drop down the ladder. Oh well!
