Welcome to the group
Hey, Im new to the club and I play the cello
Hi, everyone! I'm new to this group but was excited to find it. I'm a classical music lover and used to play the piano and am considering picking up where I left off about three years ago. What composers do you people like most? What kinds of music?
I love choral, orchestral, chamber, and some solo instrumental. In choral music, I absolutely love most Requiems, but I confess I toss the words out (I am an Agnostic) and simply take in the gorgeous harmonies and the emotions the music creates. Berlioz's Requiem is among my favorites, but so is Verdi's, Brahms', Mozart's, -- oh, dear, here I go. I love so many. Even Benjamin Britten's War Requiem, which took me so long to learn to love, is among my favorites now. And the masses -- more glorious music!
I'm waxing nostalgic over all that, but I love so much else. It is impossible to name favorite symphonies as certain moods dictate certain music preferences, but surely Mahler's Third Symphony would be way up there, as well as almost any of Beethoven's, starting with his Third.
What about the rest of you? Share your tastes in music and your involvement and participation.
