I'm still here...but yeah it did kind of die. I still read comments etc. here sometimes, but yeah it isn't nearly as active as it once was.

Pandemic had nothing to do with it.
If you've been in enough chess.com clubs over the years, then you develop a sense of which clubs will "last" and which ones will eventually become less active based on the club leadership/member activity. This "sense" isn't 100% accurate, but you can better predict club longevity by it.
