GM Hess thinks that a score of 8 will be required to win the tournament, so he could recover if he wins his remaining five games, provided that Wesley doesn't go 10.5/11 or something ridiculous.
As for the explanations, I don't really know. You can probably check his twitch channel though, he puts everything there.
Hikaru has been streaming alot which means he doesn't have as much time to prepare as the other competitors. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Guys, You win some you lose some. Awonder is a very strong young talent. Hikaru has also played tough opponents whereas Wesley got 5 wins off of people I have never heard of

I would think Hikaru is much stronger than his opponent in rapid chess and even in classical.
After 6 rounds, Hikaru has only 3 points. It's a 12 round championship, can he recover ? Did he give explanations after the games ?
