many of us are at school and need to study and time to complete homework. for most of us we would certaintly prefer chess to the torture they put us through.... but if we are caught doing chess when we are menat to being doing work we get in trouble. so therfore i suggest 3 hours per week.

please anyone reading this and agrees with what i say comment in your messsage!!

:-) :-)

30minutes/day

or

as much as the student would like to do (i.e. suggesting 125 Chess Mentor Course suitable or 1000 tagged tactics trainer problems suitable for homework)

Sourwti

2-3 hours per day for me. Sometimes more during the holidays:P

EternalChess

I dont study (maybe sometimes for a couple days), but i play chess for 6 hours+/day and i can definately put fit 3 hours of homework each day (if it's chess, of course) :)

For many college type courses, the typical workload is supposed to be 3 hours of reading and homework per hour of class; however, it typically equated to maybe 3-5 hours per week.

Study?

Hmm... Let's see. Firstly I'm watching video lessons about 1 hour per day. Openings, Defences, Tactics, End-Game etc. And I'm repeating it while I'm going to office by metro [Re-Watching by iphone]. On the days that I don't watch a video, I study by books. Re-Play an analyzed game with comments... I take notes.

Then I come to chess.com and solve tactical questions (Tactics Training). I don't count but I guess it's about 50-60 questions per day. Success? 60-63%... My rating on tactics is ~1750. It decreases when I'm depressed and increases when I'm in a good mood. :)

Playing: 1 hour per day (For tournaments and online games. Spending 1 hour for analyze the variants.)

So I guess it is like 2-3 hours per day.

Cheers

thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks!

the first course is designed to require about 3-3.5 hours of work per week; with much of it open ended where the students who choose to can do two or three times as much.

RimaDahoukMasri

2 hours per day.

peaceflowercox

I am what i consider an average player i study between 30 and 45 mins a day sometimes everyother day.

Friedwing

I am willing to put in an hour a day (5 days a week)

kishorekumar2010

I would love to get homework about chess! I want to spend at least 2 hours per day. The whole idea sounds brilliant! Really looking forward  to it. Thanks!

vinniepaz

Once you take our ideas and start charging for them, how much in royalties are we receiving?

dpruess

this is a totally uncompensated survey, i'm afraid. people are participating merely in order to help us... or to shape the courses so that they meet their needs.

flamencowizard

When I "play" chess, I "play" about an hour or two a day,

but when I STUDY chess, I tend to study between 3hrs and all day, depending on how I feel and my enthusiasm.  Honestly, I've gotten a little burned out and have taken the last 3-4 mos lightly and haven't studied much, only really played recently.

golfballer2

1-2 hours a day of studying sounds good to me. I think a lot more than that would be difficult to accomplish though.

chessman_calum

I'm 17 and in the last year of school studies (next year).

It depends what you call studying? I dont read any chess books thouroughly, only when I need to. I look at the opening of the day game for maybe 1 minute. Hehe. I could do more, but some motivation, and some idea of what to do, is great!

I could probably do 2 hours per weekend and around 1 hour per night. (weekday)..

I have a girlfriend.. an obvious timeconsumer there ;)

Calum.

chessman_calum

just like to say.. ive been here only 1 month less than dpruess :)

dpruess

actually you have been here 11 months longer than I effectively; I made my account in dec 07, but only really got "into" the site, coincidentally, on the anniversary of my joining.
