Chess teaches foresight, by having to plan ahead; vigilance, by having to keep watch over the whole chess board; caution, by having to restrain ourselves from making hasty moves; and finally, we learn from chess the greatest maxim in life - that even when everything seems to be going badly for us we should not lose heart, but always hoping for a change for the better, steadfastly continue searching for the solutions in life” — Benjamin Franklin

Shorter time controls also can teach that making decent moves without spending tons of time stressing about decisions can be better than taking forever to conclude what the absolute best option is as well as the idea that trusting your intuition can oftentimes give you just as good of a result as spending too much energy on every little decision in life and also gives us a chance to contemplate the idea of knowing when to spend time and when to just do what you need to do to not make your position worse.
