How do I handle non communicating partners in the bughouse tournaments?

I have been trying to play bughouse swiss tournaments, I would say 3/4 tournaments most of my partners just don't communicate or even respond to when I try to.

It is making it really just a luck thing for me to be able to advance my ELO. I was able to take my ELO from low 1000s to 1200 in one day when I found a good 1000 ELO player who would communicate and we played for 3 hours. But since then I have tried 3 tournaments and most of my games I am stuck with players who just won't talk. Problem in the tournament is that the very next match I will be teamed up with the same player. I have resorted to blocking non communicating players so I wont get matched with them again, but I don't want to do that.

Yea, unfortunately most of these players just won't pay attention to the chat. So, even when I ask to stall or even if I ask for a pawn to mate.. it won't happen. Just now I played a game where I saw a mate on my partner's board, threw away a queen to get him a rook for the mate

he didn't pay attention to the chat and made the wrong move.

best is find the friends which are comunicating and pair with them before tournament, random pairings are very.....random -)

In the rating range of 1200 and below, the majority of the people do not communicate for some reason. I don't know if they genuinely cannot communicate or they can see your message and they don't respond. Either way, like Suzumija and MARVEL said, the best thing to do is find someone ahead of time before a tournament to play with you that can communicate, or just sharpen your own skill to advance in points.

not much you can do with 1000-1200 players.  if they don't listen to communicate, block them and move on.  this is probably the single biggest problem with bug.  these morons who won't listen or talk.

wollyhood

just talk to them outside of the game and communicate to them what they should do, as new bughouse players we have no idea what we should do : )

Wollyhood, if the new bughouse players didn't know what to do, we understand and respect that. As they are new to this it's going to take some time to learn how to do things, but there are players who have played for a long time and CHOOSE to ignore or not respond to communication in a bughouse game. That destroys the variant and its as if bughouse is a solo game. There is teamwork involved and the more you communicate, the better chances there are for you and your partner to win. If the situation was that new bug players didn't know how to communicate, then we wouldn't have this problem.

Try to find some players where u do get along with, befriend them and u can use the partner option to play with them.

This question depends on the position.  Seeing as your raiting very low, it's hard to give you a good answer.

Do you tell your partner to sit for no reason?

Do you tell your partner for too many pieces?

Do you tell your partner you need a pawn , just so that you can put the pawn on your own board to pin a piece?

Communication is needed to win bughouse games, and without it, you'll be stuck in 1500s.

1. Communication won't work with people from different countries. Only talk to people that has the USA flag. As for other countries,  they won't understand what you're saying.

2. Block people that don't communicate well.

3. Add people, when they do communicate, and don't get mad often.
