How do we treat our domestic helpers?

  • All of you should know what is a domestic helper. They are more commonly dubbed as 'maids'. They are people from foreign and less well-to-do countries that migrate to other countries to serve more richer people.

Domestic helpers are our helpers, but not our servants. Much less, they are not our slaves, to be whipped, smacked, kicked, punched tormented, abused, yelled and fired. They are not our robots. They are humans. They have feelings. They feel hurt. They feel pain. Imagine yourself being abused mercilessly by your employer when you were told in the company you came from that 'we guarantee you nice and kind employers'. How would you feel? That is how they feel.

Yet this is not how employers mostly think. Most of the time, they take their domestic helpers for granted, and ask them to do stuff we do not wish to do, ask them to sleep in disgusting looking living quarters. They are not our belongings, for heaven's sake!!!

When I said earlier that domestic helpers have feelings, I mean they can not only feel sad and hurt, they can also feel angry.

There is this one video I watched. A domestic helper who had a sister worked for a tyrannical woman. A few days later, the domestic helper committed suicide, due to the harsh woman employer. The domestic helper's sister had a desperate hunger for revenge. Things got tragic from there on. If you can't access the video below, here's the link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etkamb0ymrE

    Below is that video:
