How do you guys feel about having your Kingdom games affect your Chess.com ratings?

Hey all! This club seems like the perfect place to ask a question that our Product team has been thinking about as we continue to work on the Kingdom app...

Right now, all PvP games on Kingdom are rated - and we'd like to keep it that way (mostly because unrated games lead to poor matches and player attrition).

In general, are you happy that Kingdom PvP games affect the relevant account's Chess.com ratings for Bullet/Blitz/Rapid (as well as League trophies and the game Archive here)... or do you wish that Kingdom games/ratings were a separate thing entirely?

Thanks for your thoughts!

I think it is fine to make it rated so there will be less stalling and trolling.

I think it’s great! I see it as a client to chess.com I did not know it at first but I was new on chess.com also. Me personally I think your team is dong a great job and I prefer kingdom as client to play rated blitz and rapid games.

I really wish there was a separate pool. It doesn't seem fair people can play on PC against an app...

It's an interesting point... though you could say the same about our main iOS/Android apps as well, I guess. 🤔

Normal chess doesn't have an in-game economy tied to it. Feels wrong, somehow.

its a perfect example of gamification. a simple way to utilize the game we love and use it to grow an idle character. It doesnt effect your rating, you are going to play that match either way...might as well get rewards for it as well.

I dont like that it affects my chess.com rating to be honest.

Well I like that it does affect the rating. However, each game I start takes longer to load on Kingdom Chess then it does on chess.com. This is fine for rapid, but for Blitz and especially Bullet, I always start with minus 5 seconds which is a huge disadvantage in some cases. This makes it that I do not play bullet on there anymore.

I'm really pleased to see that the ratings on Kingdom Chess and Chess.com are the same. It makes transitioning between the two seamless and keeps me engaged. Without this consistency, I might have hesitated to play Kingdom Chess. It's a smart move that benefits players like me!
