How do you not get fatigued during long OTB time controls?

Regarding the matter of caffein, it is usually an energy booster. The problem occurs when we ignore our body clock. Researchers in this field often advise taking caffeinated drinks during these hours (army time): 9:30-11:30; 13:30-15:30; & 19:00-20:00. Also, we need to follow through with 3-5 glasses of H2O per cup so as to keep our body fully hydrated. Lastly, drink in moderation. Some heavy drinkers take up to 5 cups each day. But we don't want to feel jittery during the game. One to two should suffice.

Another food to consider is oats. Or oatmeal, which helps in the prevention of acid reflux. Some games may cause us to think too much. We should have an energy bar covered with oats just in case. There's also the easy-to-prepare instant oatmeal available at the convenience store. I just add hot water and stir back and forth. No need to add sugar, just toss a banana or some berries.
