Really nice data there, and a thoughtful analysis.  I joined chess.com about a week or so after watching the series, and, wondered how many others had also done so.  It's interesting to see these stats visually, and, yes, as you mentioned, there could be other contributing factors, but, overall, I think the show definitely has impacted online chess' popularity.
