I looked at how many members have joined the games on some (not all) of the vc games here. It looks like 10-12 people join the game, but that often only three or four vote.
Not sure what that means..........

I'm not sure what that means either. I often don't get notified by chess.com when it is my team's turn to move, so that might be part of the problem.
I think 5 votes or more each time is good, so we will be better off with less games. Votechess can be problematic in groups with less than 300 members.
Yea I am in a couple of big groups where they play vote chess and they will have 40 or 50 votes for each move. But those groups have like a thousand members and they only have 8 or 10 games going.
I just received 3 vote chess challenges from Power of Chess and I would assume you want me to decline them all, but I am confirming that with the rest of the group.
I just looked again at some of the big groups I am in. They have less games going than I thought.
I suggest that we declind all vc games till we get down to two or three games.
how many games ?
since i do not accept this group as a "chess group" but rather as a group for thinking...i remand you sir to the corner.
the "games" of life ? there are many of course.
here is the idea.
it has been long ( and poorly accepted ) that there is a level of evolution between emotion and reason. life ( biology ), emotion, and finally "reason" ( thus the 19th and 20th rejection of religion and the " fashion of the enlightenent" ). yadda, yadda, yadda..
i speak of a truth having nothing to do with "worlds made on paper in distant garrets and libraries" ( what fools think by candlelight ! ).
think of what truth that think and might speak of, ( if you have the capacity to think outside what you have already thought ).
am i a nihlisist who just wishes to "stick the pig" ? or have you looked in the mirror and swept out the great door, defending the truth you knew from the wattle clothes you pissed in as a wee bairn ?
...but as an "ancient" who surrounds himself with paper and rewrites the strong questions of others.
i purchased for my son an old typewriter...made between 1931 and 1941...he lives in what spinoza would have understood as a garret..he is newspaperman for the salt lake tribune...( i miss mein sohn ) so i have deeply digressed....
...someone came to gate, the dogs ran to gate, i have returned, but i have forgotten my point.
..i am old..i forget...
...what is important is the loss of integrity of value...the young have forgotten what they never knew...
...the enemy of value is more than can be overcome..
The method I use in my groups is one new game per month @ 3 days per move. This usually results in 6 games running concurrently but all in different stages; opening, middlegame, endgame. That way we don't neglect the thinking required at any phase of the game for any significant period of time.
I schedule the start dates so that it becomes our turn in only one game per day instead of having everything happen all at once and then nothing happens for a few days.It keeps members active without overwhelming them.
I use "VueMinder Lite" (calender) software to manage that. It's the only software I know that allows scheduling a reccurring event on a 6 day schedule. It's free!

Right now we have 8 games in progress. In my opinion that is too many. I don't suggest that we do anything drastic to get out of the ones we have going now, but I do suggest that we set a limit as to how many we want to try in the future and stay at that, or close, to that number.
I suggest that later on, when we get better at vote chess (VC), we can manage four or five games at once. For now I would like to see that number down to two or three till we win at least one game.
I am a member of another group that was formed about a year and a half ago. We have won six games and have never lost. But we never had more than three games going at one time.
What say you???
