This post is intended to show some examples of how points are calculated in LCML Season 2 tournaments.

Example 1

In Div. B one team (Team X) comes with 4 players, the opposing team (Team Y) comes with 2 players. The match is played over 2 boards (=4 games) and ends up with the field score of 3 to 1 in favour of Team X. Team X wins the match by forfeit because Team Y had less than the minimum number of boards required (3 for Div. B). Team X gets 3 points on the field plus additional 3 board points for the missing board of Team Y.

Recorded result is:

  Match points Board points
Team X 1 6
Team Y 0 1

Example 2

In Div. B one team (Team X) comes with 5 players, the opposing team (Team Y) comes with 7 players. The match is played over 5 boards (=10 games) and ends up with the field score of 5 to 5. Both teams met the minimum boards requirement, therefore the result is entirely made on the field.

Recorded result is:

  Match points Board points
Team X 0.5 5
Team Y 0.5 5

Example 3

In Div. A one team (Team X) comes with 9 players, the opposing team (Team Y) comes with 5 players. The match is played over 5 boards (=10 games) and ends up with the field score of 7 to 3 in favour of Team X. Team Y failed to meet the minimum boards requirement, therefore it looses by forfeit. Team X gets 6 more board points for the 2 missing boards of Team Y.

Recorded result is:

  Match points Board points
Team X 1 13
Team Y 0 3

Example 4

In Div. B one team (Team X) comes with 2 players, the opposing team (Team Y) comes also with 2 players. The match is played over 2 boards (=4 games) and ends up with the chess.com score of 3 to 1. Both teams failed to meet the minimum boards requirement, therefore they both get 0 match points due to forfeiting.

Recorded result is:

  Match points Board points
Team X 0 3
Team Y 0 1

Example 5

In Div. A one team (Team X) comes with 6 players, the opposing team (Team Y) comes with 3 players. The match is played over 3 boards (=6 games) and ends up with the chess.com score of 6 to 0 in favour of Team Y. Both teams failed to meet the minimum boards requirement, therefore they both get 0 match points. Team X gets 9 board points for the 3 missing boards of Team Y.

Recorded result is:

  Match points Board points
Team X 0 9
Team Y 0 6

It would make more sense in Example 4 to count the board points as 4 - 2 because it is strange to give additional points for boards that are missing, instead we are giving additional points for board that was present for one side only.

TheMoonlightKnight

Yes, you are right, my mistake.  I made the correction. Thank you!

(PS The rule is clear)

iksnicamod

In Example 1 match is played on 2 boards so score can not be 5 - 3

TheMoonlightKnight

corrected, thanks

Following the change in rules, I believe that it would be good to present updated version of above examples.

Yes, consider anyway that up to now the link to this page is not in the Season 3 slot.
