Tactics puzzles

I would focus on stuyding master games that are in your repertoire. If you play the Italian for example, study Paul Morphy and the old masters as many of their games were played in the Italian style. The opening theory will be a bit outdated but that can be fixed.

Next get a tactics book, and time yourself on how long it takes you to solve a chapter. Once you finish it, go back through it, timing yourself a second time. It not about the amount of puzzles, but about the patterns.

Then there is endgames. 100 endgames you most know, is quite good and can be used as a training method. Solve each puzzle before reading the analysis.

"If you want to win at chess: Prepare!

Those who play for fun: Don't care."

As an old martial arts instructor once told me:" It isn't practice that makes perfect. It's perfect practice that makes perfect."

Firstly save the uk chess challenge. Secondly get a book like chess blue prints for middle games. Thirdly don't study chess up to 3 in the night cos that's just  sad. Fourthly analyse your games. Fifthly get chessbase. Sixly play chess. Senventhly, get a chessboard. Eightly get a set of chess pieces. And now the most important message is:Get Fundemental chess openings. Read 10 times and memorize the book. After all that's what bobber fishy s advice is. And now for the secret chess jewel: Memorize chess books.

what has helped me is I study several different ways:

  1. I study all three phases of the game, then play. So if i have 2 hours time - 30 minutes each. (give or take) or
  2. I break up the same during the week -

Mon: study openings, positional then play,

Tues: middle game, tactics, & play,

             Wed: endgame & play,

             Thurs: Study only,

              Fri: play only,

Sat & Sun: Enjoy life, real people, other enjoyments, etc...

but i recommend whatever works for you.

One should daily practise by  ;

1) we should play games.

2)we should see tractics and puzzle .

3) first we should buy a book and we should finish all the tractics or puzzle or games etc... and then we should buy another book.

Although I'm new to chess I have done many things well in my life.  And those things you will do well at are things you love.  When I was 19 and playing golf in college I remember walking down the fairway and a friend saying "it would be fun to play with clubs that are 2 inches longer"  and my mind immediately said ""fun" this isn't about fun!"  I burned out on that game within a year and never played another competitive round again until I was 42 years old.   The point is you need to keep it in perspective and keep it fun. If you don't, unless you are the next 12/14 year old GM, you'll quit.  Don't make it your second job.
