how to create a Channel and Live Stream on YouTube

she asked for these instructions, by the way... it gets a little more complicated tomorrow but is never very difficult... the right software is crucial

STEP TWO, INSTALL AN ENCODER:
There are three ways to stream on YouTube: use a web cam, use your phone or tablet, or use an encoder.
Using a web cam or your mobile device is not complicated but is also very limited... it will only broadcast the images from your webcam or your phone's camera, no Live Streaming from your desktop or a browser Window, no streaming a game, for example. An encoder will allow multiple sources, what you see on your computer screen is most common, but also your webcam or phone camera, picture within picture, for example, or split screen.
There is a learning curve yes, but it doesn't take much to be up and running.
An encoder converts your video into a digital format to stream on YouTube. Some encoders are software apps on your computer, while others are standalone hardware. I use OBN Studio. It's popular, it works. It's free.
STEP ONE:
It takes 24 hours, sometimes more, for YouTube to approve your channel for streaming, so you should request permission as soon as possible.
Go to YouTube and select "Create", upper right corner:
Then, from the drop down menu, choose "Go Live".
Then select "Create Channel" if you don't already have one.
Next, select again, "Go Live", upper right,
A pop up window will appear and you will be told you need to wait 24 hours... select "Request".
You'll need to verify your phone number, then a timer will appear, set to 24 hours.
I'll have Step Two here, tomorrow morning at the latest.
