How to get to break past 1800ish barrier

I saw a tip by GM Hikaru and IM Rozen. They said the same thing about people stuck at 1800. At 1800 is when you really need to know your openings. Of course, your problem may be something else.
opening, midgame, endgame, tactics, piece maneuvering and don't leave pieces hanging.
your analysis really depends on what time control you're playing so, time management is also a factor. Doesn't matter if you're up a queen if you don't have time to win the game.

lowkey the way to get past 1800 is to spot your opponent's blunders and don't blunder yourself. it's that simple

To get past 1800, you must become a complete player who makes few silly mistakes. I suggest learning how to identify and attack weaknesses. Study books on positional weaknesses and pawn structures. Also become comfortable with a variety of endgames, especially pawn and rook endings. While some A players are booked up with the latest theory, I do not believe this is a requirement to reach 1900 or 2000.

Also @iceblastor yeah time management has also been a constant struggle for me, I think its a problem for me (as far as I'm aware) that I need to work on

I'm stuck around the same point myself. I've identified Calculation as my #1 thing to improve on over the next 6 months, but I don't necessarily think that's the solution for every 1800 player. Good luck!

I'm stuck around 1800ish too, and I've noticed that (at least in blitz and bullet) I frequently have a worse position out of the opening. Unfortunately, I don't have time to study openings, or study chess at all, really, so I'm probably not going to get past 2000

Play really really simple to learn openings, like, I know, the london as white or the hippo as black that don't need a lot of study time. Personally I am able to dedicate more and play ultra sharp lines in the Sicilian and grunfeld but honestly there is nothing wrong with playing simple openings.
I've plateaued at 1800 for about half a year now, longest I've been stuck at a rating level. I'm working on tactics and endgames mostly, outside of playing actual games. Any thoughts on how to break past it, or will it just take a lot more time as the rating ladder goes up? Thanks
