I see that you're new to chess.com, and I'm guessing you're fairly new to chess. First of all, don't read My System; it'll only confuse the hell out of you. If you must read Nimzowitsch then read My Praxis. When I read My Praxis I made a commitment to start at the beginning and play through at least one game a day. Even if I was sick or busy I could still manage one game. When I arrived at the end of a section I would mentally review all the games in that section to see what lessons I had learned. If I couldn't remember what I learned from a game, then I played it over again.
If you want to read a great classic of the hypermodern era, then read Masters of the Chessboard by Richard Reti. It's highly accessible, and traces the evolution of chess thinking through the games of past masters.
One last suggestion: get a book of endgame problems, and solve them. You'll simultaneously learn endgames and how to calculate.
