I don't know how I got here

I stumbled upon White Ghost and this group by complete accident, and I'm having a mental breakdown for the last 30 minutes trying to figure out:

-How is it possible that White_Ghost-san is 3000 FIDE while only being an FM and top players are considered those that have reached the 2800 mark

-Where was this player hiding? I have never heard of them and I suddenly see that they're 5th globally in rapid 

-I would assume that they aren't exactly from Japan, but it's not fair to assume that so I'll ask, and I apologize if I'm wrong

-Do they have a discord server, twitch, youtube, anything really

This is too surreal for me. I'm having an existensial crisis considering if I was wrong to stop acting like a weeb if it would have made me better at chess. In any case, since Tentoglou and other athletes in the Olympics, I'm starting to believe that I'll be having common interests with most top players in sports for the following years

You're probably gonna diss my ELO and say that my arguement is invalid but...

You do realize there are people at the other edge of the board even if it's through a computer screen and that you're not playing against a brick wall

You're either selling yourself short (and setting your expectations low) or you're attributing the discrepancy to factors that are outside your control

Online ratings have never really been very accurate. Of course if you usually play otb, then online you will suck or at least no real discrepancy will be seen. But since quarantine exists, most people have been grinding online and that really doesn't transition well to otb.
