I hate the checks system in this game

I had to play g6 and freeze the bishop in this position because something like nc4 blunders j@e7 rxe8#

Idk if I'm stupid or if he is about to get a freeze spell, but can you not freeze e3 and take d6?

I think it should end in king capture. The checks system is a vestige of the original chess game (where it also isnt needed). The tactics that it allows are extremely niche (winning king and knight vs king endgame using freeze or winning other endgames faster, theoretically preventing castles, batteries against specifically the king, THIS) and I wouldn't miss them. I think the check system adds needless complexity to the ruleset.
One thing I do like about it is when you think a position is M0 but there is one move that keeps you alive and so it doesn't end the game. The game would be less fun IMO if games didnt end in "checkmate" positions because you wouldn't find those stupid ways out. Ofc, if they removed checks but kept checkmate that would only make the ruleset more complicated.

I do admit it was my fault that I got into that position because I was able to see the threat when it was in front of me meaning I could have seen it earlier.

That loses to jump@e7 Bxf8#.

I said take d6. Freeze the e3 rook, and take d6
