bruh orthoschnapp wtf
I show a 1700 who's boss with the Orthoschnapp gambit

i remember you playing the orthoschnapp against me
oh shut you declined it so it doesn't mean anything

im actually very depressed right now
well if this is serious and not just average b1zmark mood i don't know what to say
but otherwise, why

It's more subtle than you'd expect... By far not just a "one trick" line like you're saying. Granted, the score for master games is horrible at best, but lichess player database says white has 55 to black's 41 percent win rate (even at the 2000 level). The ensuing position is quite difficult to play for black unless they are familiar with the gambit; in particular, after Qe7! d4 exd3 white can defend with Be3, and after subsequent natural developing moves black is in a tough position. The most natural continuations, such as Na5 forking the queen and bishop are actually practically even after Qa4+, and it's still easy for black to make a mistake afterwards. Moving the bishop with Bd7 or to other squares also can be punished with Qxb7!, gaining the lost pawn back with tempo threatening the a rook. With the high volume of traps, it definitely is playable in blitz/even rapid, where it's very unlikely opponents know how to refute it.

biz you play stuff worse than orthoshnapp
also you ok biz?
No I don’t
and no

Ngl tho u lost about half ur social credit when you said “2000 lichess database” like ok?? I know Literal 1000s otb who are like 2000 lichess lmao (and they aren’t getting better)
First post here in a long time; LGP advised me to post chess content here instead of B1Z Hub, where it is likely inappropriate xD
Well, so I haven't played many games with the Orthoschnapp gambit, other than a few games that went poorly in blitz. Everything goes poorly in blitz. LGP's kalashnikov sac line worked, and I was up in material until I blundered, so just gives an idea of how I play in fast chess, heh... With the Orthoschnapp, this was only maybe the second or so game where my opponent actually played into the d5 Steiner line, not counting the time I played LGP and he declined. Guess what, he still beat me. Ow.
