I saw this thread when it was created (although didn't post), but I'm re-visiting it because I was looking for a game where a Bishop "snakes" in the opening like this; I was giving a chess.com friend an example of when this Bishop "snaking" idea makes sense from the perspective of the color complex.

If you wanted snake czech examples all you had to do was insert my username into the openings explorer and you’d get about 50 games

DasBurner

are the Czech Benoni games always really closed like that? (no central pawn breaks, having to spend multiple moves to maneuver pieces but it's ok because the opponent has to do the same)

lol - nah, too lazy for searching like that for a fast example; easier to just post in this thread I knew had a game I recalled and then I have easy access to the game via following this thread xD

yes

you also have the gigachad norweigan defense

AunTheKnight

I’ve heard the Czech is unsound. Is that true? Anyway, nice game! So this is what a 2100 rapid game looks like!

sndeww

The czech is sound because of how complex it is, not because of how good it is 🙃

But the snake... I don't really believe in it anymore.

AunTheKnight

Why do you not believe in it?

sndeww

early f2-f4 pushes make the bishop uncomfortable before black can fully close the position

AunTheKnight

I see.
