I want THAT opening

Also, I haven't studied openings either, but it seems to me, from personal experience, that white is better off in the Scotch after e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Nc3 Nf6 d4. Just something to look at yourself if you'd like. Because the Nf6 move blocks of your queen's development to that square in the future. Maybe the best move is not to play Nf6? I don't know

I'm not sure if we have too many games going on, but if people want a new vote chess game opening option, I thought maybe going super-Classical and playing the Evans Gambit could be fun. Any thoughts/should I start one?

Oooh yes, the Evans Gambit is one of my specialties

Nice, good to know if we do it we'll have a specialist! I've never played it but it has always had a certain appeal. @Lonteon if I create a game for it, would you want me to set it up as we play white, or leave it random which side of the gambit we play?

White of course! No fun to defend

Anyone have any openings they feel like trying out, or retrying some openings that we started a while back?

masterdean00

Not exactly an opening, but I don't think we currently have a Chess960 game going. Could be fun.

We could start one of those. The thing about 960 that makes it interesting is that you don't need to know opening lines for it, since the position is just completely different.

The first moves of 960 can be a good debate as well - looking to see possible lines of development as well as weak points in the other side and figure out together the best approach

That is probably my favorite part of 960 chess, looking at the board and seeing what's up. I'm usually not very good at it though, but it can still be pretty fun.

Also a game has started, vote chess 960, 2 days per move
