why does everyone at that rating level just push pawns and then swindle points it was quite annoying when I was that rating

you play nc3 and if b4 nb5 wins

On move 8 play axb5 and after Bxb5 play b3! like you said and you have a +4 advantage(!)

Whenever someone defend like that in QGA, you have to play axb5 first then Nc3. I prefer the Nf3 e3 line rather than e4 because it's easier to play and you can play b3 against people who play like this.

they can hold onto the pawn and lose the rook/minor piece or lose the pawn
the only thing is that you won't get two pawns in the center in these lines since you are committing to e3 and e4 would be a waste of tempo

Had I won this game, I would have gotten to 1400 again. Unfortunately, that was not to be
Also, if anybody can comment on the opening (the QGA), I'd appreciate it a lot.
