I think it can be a great idea to do that.
Idea for a New Chess Variant
I have another suggestion for preventing draws: We combine the no capture role with :
You cant move backwards and if you didn't move forward the last mov, you have to move forward on this move + maybe replace pawns with berolina pawns (which move diagonally forward and capture to the front, in this case this would only affect the king, as otherwise its very had for any pieces other than the knight to infiltrate (move sideways forward).
Uncapturable pieces can be implemented on a variants server via exploit, tho king will not have the power to capture then. @xxdragonxxyz's idea is good, and will prevent draws, but you cant implement it. However, by filling the board with dead pieces and making the bots drop bricks you can prevent the same square to be visited twice, also preventing draws.

Capturing frontwards is a good idea! But the thing is this variant doesn't allow captures so this doesn't do anything.
Players could just pile pieces around their king, making a checkmate impossible since players could no longer break through defenses. Pawns would also never make it to the other side of the board because the pawn in front of them could never get out of the way.
Forcing players to always move forward is an interesting idea. This makes it so players can't barricade their king in. And if you make it so if a player with no possible forward moves loses, that could create some interesting situations where players try to balance king safety and claimed space on the board.

But, draws earn negative points for both sides. It is also a good idea to enforce more rules to draw/forfeit (e.g.: consecutive 5 moves that move pieces to squares near the king forfeits the game). The other king can go on a capture rampage if one is very passive. May be, the game could work better if the board is smaller (otherwise, the game can be too long).
A related (but not same) idea: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-variants/no-capture-chess-1#comment-119193786

Zugzwang exists. That's how I won with my friend who was around like 1900 chess.com. He thought he was clever with the same idea but it was a fun way to outsmart an opponent!
So I was thinking one day.. if there was a variant for Anti-chess (compulsory to capture pieces), then shouldn't be there a variant that includes where capturing isn't allowed?
Let me explain (feel free to add on ideas in the comments to revise my version!):
I introduce you to--> Uncle chess!
Yes. It comes from the pronounciation of 'anti' (auntie) (aan-tee). If there's an aunt then obviously there should be an uncle LOL!
So it's simple: no captures! They're basically stones made of the hardest metal haha, no possible way of capturing. The goal is to checkmate the king. Now you may ask, "So how are we going to checkmate them if capturing isn't allowed?"
Well it's the same rules as in normal chess: The king cannot be in danger. If in danger must be stepped aback, blocked. BUT no captures!
Here's a few examples:
Now, the chances of a draw are high if these don't happen (checkmate will most likely be a very rare case like a stalemate among expertise players). That's why I also introduce a 75-move rule!
1. Captures aren't allowed, so if any of the players do not end the game within 75 moves the game automatically becomes a draw.
2. If each pawn moved up to the end of the board (both sides), it would probably take about 10 moves.
3. Draws do not gain rating. They instead lose rating, but not that much like a loss. This is to prevent such types of positions like:
So that's it I guess. Just an idea, because I tried it out by playing with a friend of mine and it was confusing at first but it was nice! I won though by checkmate, so if you think this is basically just a perfect draw situation, don't think like that! There mayyyy be some sorta way this idea type variant could work (I personally think it would :3)
