Thanks for that detailed analysis, Till. I knew I won due to a calculation error near the end so I hoped you'd be able to show me where I went wrong throughout the game. I am going to set up a board to fully comprehend all the lines you provided later. It's much appreciated. :)

My 1st round is taking a little longer, my opponent likes to think a lot it appears and goes on vacation from time to time. Will update here when finished. Good analysis Till_98.

My game with spyv007 ended with an accidental resignation. Perhaps we can continue the game in a separate forum thread?

If you continue the game from the exact same position, then yes, that is fine. It should be easy to do; you can just copy the same moves from the original game (you can use pre-moves to speed things up).

When that's done, message me the game, so that I can double-check the position and moves and then carry on as usual. If you want anything else clarifying, then message me or post here.

Thanks, we'll start a new game and play the same moves to get back to where we were.

We started a new game but spyv007 played a different opening move to the first game. I guess we'll have to abort and try again?

Yep; make sure that he also knows you are re-instating the position where you left off.

You may know them as 'conditional moves'. This is when a sequence of moves are automatically made on condition of a previous move. There's more information in the FAQ's: https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/articles/1444845-what-are-conditional-moves-

Unfortunately not. The competition has already started.

The game between learning2mate and PimpSlap has ended:

Not sure why learning2mate resigned.

Maybe he was worried about Bb5 skewering his queen and rook. After the exchange on f1 it looks to me like a fairly equal game.

He resigned before PimpSlap made his move; I would have waited to see if he made that move (and even after that, I still wouldn't resign; I've seen many games where a side on top has thrown away a win).

I agree. PimpSlap also sacrificed a knight for this tactic so material would still be roughly equal. After the exchange on f1 it would be two extra minor pieces with the bishop pair for white against black's extra rook and pawn and better pawn structure.

maybe his wife got confused and resigned the game? apparently that happens :s

I think I know why. His(or her) account has been closed! Really. In the standings, clck the game and click on Learning2mate. It says his account is closed.

If so, then I'm really not sure what to do. Do we bring in another person to take his place, or award a one point bye each round to one player?
