As far as I know, the interactive API is still well in the future.
In terms of having an AI play against real players, site rules do not currently permit that; all games must be fully human.
However, you're not the only one interested in doing this with specifically designated engine accounts. i know of a couple other sites that specifically support bot accounts, and I believe they are a popular feature on those sites. I would like to write my own engine someday, and if I ever get around to it, I would be interested in taking it online to see how it does.
For now, though, it's currently against site rules to have any form of computer assistance in your games, except in unrated games with the agreement of both players.

Hey,
first of all I wanted to thank you guys for all the hard work providing APIs and stuff!
A colleague and I are working on a chess AI for a university project. Our supervisor recommended us to test our AI through matching it against real players on chess.com. But for realizing that we would need an API, which enables matchmaking, getting the current board and pushing moves on it.
Probably this is the purpose for which you are developing the interactive API you are talking about here?
If it is, we would like to know, when you are planning to release it and how we could use it then.
Thank you for your time, I really appreciate!
