Hello, I'm Dave. I am a full-stack software developer in Las Vegas, previously in Silicon Valley and Chicago. I have played chess for as long as I can remember, but I didn't start taking it seriously until I joined this site about a year ago. I am a nudist, a cyclist, a science and space nerd, and I have a puppy named Gambit.
Introduce yourself
Not sure I could handle being a nudist in Vegas, I needed factor 50 just to walk from one casino into the other...

I’m an “adult improver” (at 57, more like an old beginner). I’ve known the rules of the game since I was a child, but only during the last few months I began taking the game more seriously. The rest of the time I teach math at the university. I like old books and I can read descriptive notation (in English and Spanish!), so there’s that.
I'm Jim 48 year old electrician currently working on the Ely Ouse to Essex Water Transfer Scheme, from 2013. but prior to that did 22 years in the RAF as a Ground Technician Electrical in General Engineering flight, 16 Sqn RAF Regiment and 5001 Sqn. Always like chess from school, but sadly never really been that good at it. Probably down to never spending much time training/reading (Theory) to get better, or trying to learn from own games/mistakes.
Hello hello! I’m David, 36yo from San Diego, CA. I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I’m an Assistant Brewer, and occasional marathoner. I
I have known the rules of chess since I was a child. My Grandfather taught me. I never studied opening theory or endgames, nothing really. I just threw the pieces around on intuition until recently. I’m enjoying the lessons and puzzles on here.
It's nice to find a good community of people that enjoy this game. It’s great to meet you all.

Hi, I'm Chris. I work as a dialysis RN. I joined the club a couple of weeks ago after playing in 1 or 2 of the club's tournaments. I learned chess from my father at around 8, and played a bit in high school. I played off and on with friends, and 6 months ago a few friends at work started playing as a small group, and timing worked out that I needed a new distraction, so I joined chess.com. I've played more games in the last 6 months than I have in all of my previous time combined.
I'm Shawn. Serial entrepreneur living in Puerto Rico. I've known how to play chess since the age of 6. I didn't get serious about playing chess until last month. Working on my game, and hoping to crack 1000 in rank by the end of the year.

Hello, I am the Michael, am 60 Years old, happily married and have 2 adult children. I am from germany and i live near frankfurt/main. my father taught me to play chess when i was a boy. I also played with enthusiasm for quite a while. But at that time there was no online chess and you could only play if you knew someone who could play. Today it`s absolutely awesome. You can play at any time of the day or night with people all over the world. Awesome!!!! Have rediscovered chess since about 1 year and play a lot. The Groovy gang is a really great club. There are many and good tournaments and very nice and cool players...Thanks for that! My other hobbies are Music, drawing and painting, at the moment i`m still learning to play the drums and bass guitar. All still have fun in this great club.....

Hey guys! Just joined thanks for the invite. Currently just playing some daily games here and there as I’m super busy with work and studying for my big board exam to become a BCBA. Been playing chess on and off since I was in elementary school and I just finished up my masters degree.
