im 1800 and 12 i might have a shot
Is it possible to get an IM or GM title if you start chess later?

what?!
Is 1769 good? I am trying to get to 2200 before 2025 ends.
i have been stuck in the 1900-2000 range for about a year now and i am also 11, so just saying gaining 500 points in one year at this level needs some real commitment such as homeschooling

Does anyone here have FIDE rating? Cause I have....
i do i am 1800 classical,1900 rapid,and 1900 blitz

It's better to get either one of them IM or GM title but I'm just playing chess for fun and have more friends.

I think it is definitely possible for someone to get an IM or GM title if they start chess later on. It may be more difficult (due to work and other responsibilities), but definitely possible. You just have to put a lot of hard work and dedication imo.
Im 2137 USCF and currently grinding for NM
