anyone here interested in something besides Naruto or Bleach? They're great, I won't argue that, but there are so much more out there...

Any Fairy Tail/Claymore fans?  How about sports manga fans?

Sports manga? Like Prince Of Tennis?
rgp89
Claymore, the manga or anime?
MrKalukioh

<animeangel>Yea, Prince of Tennis is great! (though I thought the ending was kinda cheesy=P) I also enjoy: Slam Dunk, Eyeshield 21, Air Gear,  and H2. There acouple weird ones two that I'm interested in (Bowling King!? haha---).

<rpg89> The manga definitely! The Anime ending left a bad taste in my mouth=P.

I'm so glad you said the Nimzo. I was afraid we'd be talking about naruto or bleach forever. In general I think, although we're a anime-forum, should also talk about things beside anime or manga. (*let me remind you: this is also a chess-site, why doesn't seem anyone interested in chess...?)

back to the topic: I Have seen only one claymore-episode, so I don't really have detailed opinion about that. And unfortunately I've never come across sport-anime so I'm interested in a few names. I'd like to check it out, so if you maybe know some good ones:]

If your going to venture Claymore, I whole-heartedly recommend the manga over the anime. The anime drifted towards it "own" ending, which, basically was a "good-guy-gets-beat-by-bad-guy-at-first-but-then-finds-inner-strength-to-win-in-the-end-uber-blah!" event. The manga is longer too (unfinished, in fact).

As for sports Anime, I definitely recommend the ones in my previous post. Just remember to treat em as an anime/manga and not in comparison to the actual sport.

Alrighty!   ---time for a suptopic!---

What is your favorite Anime/Manga character outside of Naruto/Bleach? (I'm not deliberately trying to exclude these two, just trying to include others.)

What's mine? well well, at the moment its Natsu from "Fairy Tail". Funny, eats fire for sustenance, and is a fire mage who kick butt at close range! Amazing I tellz ya!!

Dinkydoe

Mine is Vash the Stampede from Trigun. He's a comic, very funny. Trigun is such a great serie, more like adult-anime:] That may sound a little stupid, but the humor is a little more adult-like, (just like Cowboy Bebop).

It's not really a good guy beats the bad-guy serie ( eventually it is, but there's more to it then just that). The main-char has a ridiculous bounty of 600.000.000.000 $ on his head, and is called the human typhoon. It always remains a little dubious how he got this bounty, but everyone is afraid of him and thinks of him as a horrible bad guy destroying everything that gets in his way. (that bounty made that reputation)

But actually he's a kind-hearted  good guy who tries to avoid as much physical conflict as possible, as surprise of everyone who meets him, not believing he's that infamous *human typhoon*.

It's really one of the best series I've ever seen. I really recommend it.  I'm gonna check out Fairy tail, and see why you're so enthousiast about it:D

Is there is a chess-based series, Dinkydoe.  Just wondering.
rgp89
Also, no new chapters of Claymore came out for months.  Nimzo33
MrKalukioh

<Dinkydoe> Wow! definitely got me interested in trigun-thanks!

<rpg89> yes, sadly-I'm eagerly waiting for claymore's manga continuation. Also, the closest I've seen of a chess anime was "Hikaru-no-go". Not chess, yes, but it is a board game anime, and I found it a good watch=).

monkey66

i watched claymore it is okay, i like shion no ou anime its is about a board game. i try to watch hikaru-no-go i really don't like it. sorry

I agree 100% Vash is my favorite character, too. Do you know of any other animes like Trigun and Cowboy Bebop?

Dinkydoe

I wish I could say I do, but unfortunately I've been desperately looking for more anime in that particular style. In general I'm looking for anime with a little more depth. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun really have a lot in common. Every episode is a little story in itself, with nearly allways some deeper meaning. What bothers me about all these mainstream anime like naruto, one piece, bleach ( although I must admit I enjoyed nearly all of them), is that they allways deal with the same sort of issues: fight for your friends(nakama), fight for your ideals, fight to be the best, good-guy-beats-bad-guy, bad guy wants to take over the world,...all these ever-returning motives, wich are interesting but a little repetitive on the long run. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are not like that. They also have some of these motives, but in a much more subtle and original manner.

The only serie I recommend, not so mainstream, is Hellsing. It's a kind of weird serie, but I really enjoyed it, especially the main-char, music themes and atmosphere. But there's a big chance you've allready seen it. =]

But if I find any other great stuff, I'll post some names:D (you have any recommendations?)

CrimsonMadness

Yeah, I've seen Hellsing before, but only the first few episodes. How many episodes are in it?

And I've had a hard time finding anything like Bebop and Trigun, too.

As for reccommendations, I don't have many. You probably would like Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai Champloo but I doubt you havent seen those.

Hellsing is pretty good!

I haven't seen the last episode in Prince Of Tennis yet but how many episodes are there?

<Sakura22> I've only watched the anime for Hikaru-no-go; is the manga different/better? I'm still working on Slam Dunk, but I thought Prince of Tennis (albeit a cheesy ending=P).

I like Inuyasha and other Manga too.

Ghost in the Shell SAC was probably my favorite, although I think they only made 2 seasons.  I'm also also a big fan of Trigun.  I've seen a few episodes of Full Metal Alchemist and enjoyed it, but didn't have a chance to see to much.
