rip
it is with great regret that i announce

I like how all the people who go "theory is important" also play hypermodern lines
Hmmmmmmm
Because you need to know them lol. But the total amount of theory you need to study is much less. You can make do with knowing little theory playing mainlines, but as you get higher you need to study more and more theory. That increasing graph doesn't apply as much towards hypermodern openings

Was that game against Scott actually winning for you?
Yeah it was like -6 lol

Oof

finally lol
bruh were you just like anticipating my retirement from the czech

why you play modern benoni though I thought it was a aggressive opening to play for a win with?
???? I want to win as black ????

yeah imagine winning as black
i just polled my recent results with my main openings and god damn I'm winning nearly every game as white but my overall tournament scores are mediocre. Imagine how bad I score as black (I don't think I've won an alekhine game otb against good players)

I put it on my profile
But to be fair, I Was winning against the 1600 until he played like 20 best moves in a row
and the 2000 I lost to was back in may 2021, when I Was 1680 uscf

Are you an open game player lol
also I swear all of the Chinese expert and higher Rated players all play e4 just something I noticed lol
This has been weighing on my mind heavily due to recent developments. I don't know if I've told many people about my thoughts on this subject recently, so this should come as a surprise. Perhaps those who I told earlier thought I was joking, but I wasn't.
It is with great regret that I must announce my retirement from playing the czech benoni. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing it and I still do. However, after re-analyzing the opening I have come to the conclusion it is near unplayable at high levels due to the plan of f3-h4-g3, which stops all of black's active plans. The czech benoni helped me get many firsts, including my first win against someone 2100 USCF in a longer time control game (Nationals online 2020):
However this setup has been really bothering me and I have had no real idea playing against it. For example, local NM Scott destroyed me completely (But ended up blundering later). While I was winning (But drew) at the end, it doesn't change the evaluation of the opening play and corresponding middlegame events.
The line was tested when I played at nationals against Avi Kaplan (2150). I won, but white had terrific winning chances.
As a result, I have decided to play a better opening. Namely, the modern benoni.
