his tank filling with gas, @dragons-inferno clambered to the top of his cell and tried to hold his breath. a large explosion sounded nearby, and two men dropped into the cell, killed two of the guards, and one ran over to open @dragons-inferno's cell, while the other backed the last guard into the corner.

Phosgene gas doesn't require breathing it, just coming into contact.

Also, phosgene gas is colorless and odorless. There would be no way to know that a cell was being gassed with it.
