Just an idea

Hi everybody.I would like to hear your oppinion about an idea of mine wich I think is a good one but it's hard to put in practice.

I was thinking about the possibility to create an on-line community, like this team, but having our own website and focusing on scientific articles,videos,forums etc...something like the freeinfosociety combined with youtube,an evergrowing group of smart guys for sharing free information on the internet and things like that.

I already talked to strangequark about this and we concluded that it is nice and good but it is too difficult to actually do it.

Just tell me what do you think about this.

I like the idea. Have you thought about admins and people like that. Also, some people in this group (like me) are here to learn, and not teach, therefore will not be able to contribute as much to the website. Is this a problem? Just putting forward my ideas and opinions.

The biggest problem is to create and maintain the website.Unfortunately I know very little about web design so I can't do it.The basis for this community has to be a team made of people who can actually create the website and then contribute at it's maintenance, more designers,less work/individual.After that it will be easier because hopefully people will begin to register and post articles, lessons,videos,use the forums etc.

No problem if you can't contribute.The purpose would be to teach and spread information to anybody who needs it.

All we need is creative and smart people who also want to do it and hopefully take it seriously.

Yes, these are all good ideas. Currently a YT network might be much more realistic.

I know web design

I think that is an awesome idea! Similar sites exist, I haven't seen any with videos though! I would be very intersted in such a site - I could contribute with applied mathematics (primarily systems of autonomous ODE's).  

Let's start with quark's idea of a youtube channel.Hopefully, in time, we can assemble a team that will be able to do this.Just one step at a time.

I didn't know that you are good at web design...anyway,I don't think that one guy is enough to do it...there is a lot of work involved.

There's always blogs although that would be more basic...we can always just start with videos first for now. If we could find out how NewScientist channel or RDFS TV works on YT that would possibly give us some good ideas.
