Analysis for K + P #1 & 1a
K + P Discussion
It's actually worth making that puzzle play all the way to the draw by repetition since it is for white a calculation of what 'free' pawn moves he has up his sleeve to counter black's advancing a-pawn. It's a nice study.
That's right, but according to the engine (Fritz 13) I was working it out with, there are multiple possibilities after 4. Kc1. There were 3 (I think) possibilities for Black, none of which restricted White to just 1 drawing move, so I had to stop it there.
thx for the puzzles.
#10 could you add another similar like this but with Kf5/a6/a5, should be a more accurate defense from Black.
You're welcome. To be honest I just copy these over from Tactics Trainer as I come across them mostly for the purpose that I replay them from time to time and not forget the ideas involved.
You're probably right about #10. The original puzzle finished a couple of moves earlier, so I added the last couple of moves in to make it clear to anyone who was not familiar with the Trebuchet position what it was all about.
