Kingsindian Defence 1: Sämisch System F3

Here I will start a series about the Kingsindian Defence( KID) for black. I will start with the Sämisch system.

This is the starting position, whites last move was f3. But there are several ways to reach this position for white:

The normal way to get to the Sämisch system.

Another way to get there.

Just remember to play always Nf6,G6, Bg7,0-0 against everything white plays.

I will recommend you a very nice and interesting line against the Sämisch which starts with the move Nc6. Its a very tricky but perfectly playable line for black:

So you see Nc6 is a perfectly playable line which many white players dont know. So a perfect line for you :)

Thank you for this.

Thanks Till. I often play the King's Indian, so I'll try and put this stuff to good use!

As much as I like the idea of saving a tempo on ...d6, not many people play the Samisch with the 3.f3 move order. As a former KID player myself the games continue with 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.f3 0-0. I am sure many of the KID players in this group enjoy the Mar Del Plata line if White playe 5.Nf3 instead of f3 (8.d5 Ne7), so I don't feel the need to omit 4...d6.

That said, I think after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.f3 0-0 6.Be3, 6...Nc6 is playable and interesting as it may surprise an unsuspecting Samisch player. The ideas may transpose to the line given. Black's attack on the Kingside might be premature because White has not commited with the King yet.

Wait oraoradeki, you know that you DO NOT need to play d6 in the classical variation  at move 4 for black? You can always play Nf6,G6,Bg7,0-0 first, whatever white does! I think you missunderstood that...

Here is a line with the right move order:

So you see, you dont need to play d6 in move 4 for black! Its not nessecary to get into all standard kingsindian lines. I am playing with this move order ( first castling) my whole life and its perfectly playable and has the possibilty to get into some lines like the Nc6 line against the sämisch system. So remember that you dont need d6 at move 4!
