Kramnik gave interview to Pavel Motocha, and answered the question about Kasparov political life in the Russia.

"On Kasparov's political activities in Russia

I disagree with him. It seems to me that his political opinions are empty. Garry is too destructive for my liking. According to him, everything in Russia is wrong, Putin did everything wrong . But that is simply not true. Garry’s approach to everything is just demagogic and destructive. I disagree with his opinion that the situation in Russia is as critical as he sees it. Of course Russia is not a democracy on the same level as countries such as Germany or France, but you cannot judge today’s situation without taking in the historical context. Russia had never been a democratic country in the past, so that is why the transition is not easy. Nevertheless, nowadays eighty percent of the Russian population is not forced to fight for their existence, as they had to, some ten, fifteen years ago."

I agreed, that  good Kasparov's political attempts  at the Russia, are complicated, but, really,  not for Hight King Top Post, here...

I am disappointed, i must say, about what Kramnik says.

May be, kasparov seeks power, as he did when he was a chessplayer.

But:

It is not 'empty' to call for free speach, (ab out 40 journalists have been killed in Russia over the last 15 years), mostly the murderers are unknown,

or the authorities do not even investigate.

Yes! It is not empty call, at all! He is like a freedom-whistle, here!..

And he got outside publicity, as well...  Los Angeles Times...

But, I did not believe, that Kasparov has a chance to become the Russian President!

And he has appeared on many tv talk shows such as Larry King,  Glenn Beck etc.

Without free speech no other freedoms will last.

Also, this post reminded me of when he was struck with a chess board by someone who disagreed with him. Kasparov had a great comment that he was glad he wasn't a famous baseball player!!

I never heard it!

But we has a great Russian comedy novel "12 chairs", by Ilia Ilf and Petrov, about greatest Soviet Crime Combinator Ostap Bander!   Who was been beaten by chessboards, after his biggest-junk Chess Stimulation Playing, that he did for money collection purposes...

tas58 wrote, "Without free speech no other freedoms will last."

Yes, that is true, but is overemphasized by the chattering classes, because it is how they make a living. Many people think that everything centers around what they do. Each right we have depends on other rights. The tas58 picture shows the exercise of the right to keep and bear arms. Many groups throughout history had no rights in their countries without being an armed political faction. If the rulers have all the sources of power, the individual can enjoy freedom of religion and freedom of speech in a tiny cell by talking to the wall. Without freedom of assembly there is no freedom of religion or freedom of speech. The most important right if we must choose one, is protection from arbitrary arrest. Yet, if the government cannot arrest those, humans and animals, who are brought up or born to kill us, we must retain the natural right of self defense. There are those who would even deprive us of using the above picture, showing a willingness to destroy free speech as a way to destroy the right to arms.

Even with free speech, we cannot be protected at our great Chess Kingdom against the mosquitos!

Keep your mouths closed! still be reasonable tactics to survivors at the middle of Chess  political muddness...

It is an error (of the west) to see the freedom of speech as the first of human rights

.

The first one is the right to live, meaning that the state (=governement + burocracy) must do everything to fight

1) criminals who kill (including those who claim they are a 'political movement')

2) hunger and poor health of your people,

that means: you must ensure decent prices of food, you must fight homelessness,

and ensure access of EVERYBODY to normal healthcare and education.

Needless to say that the second of these commenments is omitted/downplayed by ( mainstream ) ideology of many political parties in the west.

"Global Chess will work under a licence agreement to be granted by FIDE. This follows the last Presidential Board meeting in Elista whereby it was agreed by the FIDE Board to pursue discussions with Global Chess on a licence agreement to achieve the above objectives.

Ilyumzhinov and Kok during the FIDE election

The initial start up capital of Global Chess will be 4.5 million Euro to be supplemented by an additional 5.5 million Euro to support future ventures in chess related projects.

The initial Board of Directors will consist of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Bessel Kok and Alexey Orlov. The Board asked Mr. Bessel Kok to act as its Chairman, which he accepted. The Board also commissioned the management team required for Global Chess BV."

Should any serious opposition in Russia emerge, it would be shut down overnight.

Kasparov likes to hint that he owes his relative immunity to the international prestige of his name - but this doesn't seem to be true; for example, all the same nobody touches the virtually unknown (outside of Russia) nationalist bolschevik Limonov (with whom the ultra-democratic Kasparov happens to cooperate ;) ).

When somebody was a real threat to Putin, he was dealt with 100% seriously, and all his welfare and foreign friends did not help him a bit - the case of millionaire M. Khodorkovsky.

Whatever his intentions, Kasparov's political activity is a form of self-promotion rather than something likely to have any real impact.

He knew, that ANYTHING STRANGE MIGHT HAPPEN with him!

He play bluntly to win and/or shake up  the chessworld!

I don#t like this picture at all. bessel kok used to be an opponent of Ilimshinov, in elections.

Now they are all big friends...

Who has bought whom?

It#s about money isn't?

They are laughing since they can make big money, also the 4 K#s are laughing.

An d the rest of the chess world is of minor concern.

When it comes to politics Kasparov sucks. He should stick to chess and cut the crap about Putin. Russia doesn't need that wild democracy to be a powerful country.

The problem is, that Kasparov grew up too fast! And he is bigger, than we think before!

When he was 13, his likely book was "Napoleon", by Tarle!

 He is right, about Putin!

Putin is not true Chess King, he is Judo Black mafia Belt!

Ilyumzhinov ruled at the Kalmikia /the Capital Elista/, not at the Tatarstan /Kazan/!

I am neither naive, nor paid by him!.. I am Chess Player!

I can see the big field for different multitude dimensions!

I Do not  believe, that the Earth is flat! But some still believe for that, despite a facts!

among the many dimensions we all have to be aware of is one known as freedom of speech.

Do you not or do you  deny that several journalists in kalmykia have been found dead after they published  articles criticizing  the government?

I did never say (and i will never) you are paid. Just you overlook important facts.

since Iljumshinov rules the Fide, evrything is a disaster and unpredictable.

(Even Campomanes was better).

The great chess players shut up, since they depend on the money from fide (its time of democracy are long over!!! votes have been bought many times...) and on invitations.

This is also an important issue: invitations are given to players who are  opportunists (those who shut up), and to those who look good on TV.

The invitations are not given according to ratings.

The first thing politicians learn to do, is to be politicians. The art of double speak, saying and promising what the masses want to hear, while compromising their beliefs under the guise of negotiations. People vote individuals into office and they can vote them out, (most of the time). The U.S. also has it's history of murdered individuals who were vocal about change. From presidents, senators, congressmen, all the way down to the picket walker, demanding the right to join a union.

If you are looking to someone else to make a change in your life, you are already lost. You bear responsibility for what happens to you, your family, and your community. If fear keeps you from actions, it is still your choice, and you chose to follow fear. Make sure your choices reflect who you want to be.

We (and you, too) can and must decide on which side we are, and not hide behind our 'pure art of chess'.

We lost a generations of Minded persons... And rich Russia having poorest peoples, so far!

Kramnik about...:

"Will there be a repeat of the "toilet affair" in Bonn?

Not at all. I am convinced that in the world of chess currently there is only one person from whom we can expect such behaviour. Vishy Anand has never taken pleasure in scandals, and neither have I. From a chess point of view you can expect a very balanced and tough match. My task is to play the very best chess in Bonn and to win the match."
