Longer Time Controls

I love that USCF has a regular schedule here. It is great for planning and I really appreciate it.

However I wish that they would have some longer time controls to try out.

I am not talking about live tournament time controls but an occasional 45|0 or something similar would be nice.

In a world were everyone is playing fast games I would like to slow down and play a slower game where I can get deeper into a complicated position and have the time to think about it.

Does anyone share my desire for longer games? Please share your thoughts.

That's the problem. I for one would appreciate Tuesday or Sunday events, as that's when I have time to play most of the time.

I also would love to see occasional USCF tournaments with longer time controls, especially at 60/0. However I am quite glad that the once a month 30/0 time tournament is still regularly held.

I agree. 60/0 or 45/0 would be nice.

I'd like to see that, too. There'll be cheating, but that happens in Rapid and BLitz, as well.

I'd support longer time controls as well. That said, I feel like there have been new members added to the group, or at least newer tournament participants, who's play is well above their rating. I don't want to say or imply people are cheating/sandbagging but I will say regardless of the reason, the level of play is increasing and I most certainly would appreciate extra time to think things through. This game doesn't get easier with age 😂
