My friends and I play 1 day / 3 day / 7 day chess almost exclusively. Largely because we like to put in a couple of moves at lunch or during downtime at work, but don't want to synchronize our schedules or commit a large chunk of our day to playing a game.
Is there any way to play variants like this? The longest I seem to be able to make a game is 30 minutes. The few times I have played variants with my friends, it's been great fun, but we'd love to be able to play these more regularly.
The only good alternative I can give you right now is probably 4pc correspondence, as the server doesn't support daily games (You can, however, play chess960 on the daily chess server)
I'll give you the link to the club, but admittedly it's not very practical to play on the forums.

I guess the follow up is: has this been discussed before, (I assume yes), and has there been any feedback from chess.com folks about actually doing it?
I've been begging chess.com for YEARS for daily 3 check chess.
All they say is they are interested in that and someday -- blah blah blah.

Given chess.com has already rolled 4 player and custom variants into the same arm of the service, it’s probably just a question of when they will finally bring them into the top-level domain so you can play whatever you want at more than 30 min/game.

that would be bad because we would lose a lot of our close contact with the team and also it would just make playing these variants, especially the unpopular NCVs an absolute nightmare...
Btw the term top level domain is incorrect, top level domain is .com in this case. All .com

I never passed a judgment on whether this happening would be good or bad, I just said that it is objectively what chess.com is probably about to do. There are ways for them to do it which would just make playing these variants, especially the unpopular NCVs an absolute nightmare, and ways which would not.

I don't really think chess.com intends doing this. I see variants and the main server as separate, and cc uses the /variants server developments in advantageous ways, but reframing the entire games on a different board is nonsense, spacebar also made all the developments and cc did nothing
Chess.com's competitors make CHESS960 and Three Check Chess and other variants a daily/correspondence feature.
Chess.com simply chooses to let their competion have that share of the market.
chess960 is played at daily on this site.
Other variants are not.
And there is very little correspondence chess played at lichess compared to here.
Previously, apart from 4-player chess, other variants were on the main live site and they wanted you to play them all at 3+0. You go to Watch and there is one option of "variants" without any further filtering. That's why it's good in a sense that Variants has moved here.
A shame it takes so long to get matched in a 10+15 duck chess.

You can’t even do live games longer than 30min with fairy pieces here. This is not a surprise for a site founded by entrepreneurs rather than chess players or publishers or people who like them.
So I was playing 10+15 duck chess yesterday and my opponent was outplaying me but then decided to flag.
I mean, really, how can anyone let their clock run out in 10+!5?
Not that satisfied with the win, I like to do it on the board. And I was being outplayed.

I have made a 10+15 custom variant (I am a rapid/daily main). The current version has an 11x8 board.
