Two of BW members reported encountering malware here. Have you experienced it, too? What's the best way to go about this?

zanshin: I am getting a Trojan horse warning attack on chess.com - ako lang ba? In the meantime, todits na lang muna ako hanggang maayos ang problema.

fab11mt<zanshin> I posted a question yesterday regarding that issue sa BW Forum. Ako rin nadale bale ba both my laptop pa. Seems like my anti-virus got it removed (McAffe).

I had to make a new account on my computer dahil hindi ko maalis dun sa other acct. Frown

What got me was a Vista Security Ad (nothing to do w/ Microsoft) . My firewall would ask me for permission once a day when I play at chess.com to allow or not allow a program trying to get in. Of course, I always say no. I made a mistake of clicking allow while I was playing blitz and It keeps popping up every minute ever since.

The malware (assuming it wasn't a false alarm) probably came from one of chess.com's advertisers. It happens all the time, especially with sites as large as this with advertisements as part of their income. There were many instances of this also in pacland.

The solution is to have your anti-malware up-to-date, and use ad-blockers in your browser. Also, it would help if we could report this malware to chess.com admins so that they can do something about it.

Personally, I'm not experiencing this issue at all because I have all the ads blocked in my browser.

If you're using firefox, just install the "adblockplus" extension and most of the problems will go away. =)

I assume that this is not from chess.com but from an infected advertisement provider. You probably got an ad which is infected by a trojan.

I have two other sites with ads that has this behavior and managed only to get rid of it by blocking the ads.

I am using Avast antivirus. It is free and it always blocks this kind of malwares.

It is very important that you guys always have an updated antivirus to be safe.

Also, most of the time better to use FireFox or Google Chrome. It is safer compared to Internet Exploder este Explorer.

Both Chrome and Firefox works with chess.com without any problems.

You can download this free malware cleaner if you think you are infected

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

And download a free antivirus to protect your system.

Here's a screenshot of my browser by the way. Just a clean display. No ads, no pictures, no pop-ups. Sealed

bro mysql, are you premium? If you are, then you will not see any ads at all.

I can see from your screenshot a very small ad not an ad actually but probably it is,

a link that say "click here to remove ad".

If you are not premium and you don't see ads, maybe you can share here the steps to block them out.

This is not a good way to support chess.com btw, so it's not reccommended.

No, I'm not a premium user. However, I'm quite hesistant to share in public how to block all the ads since it would deny chess.com one of their sources of revenue. Sealed

For normal purposes, I think adblockplus would suffice sir.

So far, everything is clear here in the new acct i made. I don't get the firewall permission now. I just get that ad pop-up from chess.com which I don't mind. I don't have the urge yet to try and fix the other acct. SO, all is well for now.
